Is your house ready for the cold weather?

One winter weekend morning, my family was surprised by an early morning knock at the door. It was our neighbors who had noticed that the holly bush in front of our home looked like a giant ice sculpture. Our front hose bib had not been winterized and the pipe froze and burst. We were lucky that the leak was under our front porch and outside of our home. It could have been much worse.

You want to avoid this happening...

During most home inspections, I've heard the home inspector talk about winterizing the hose bibs of your home as part of home maintenance. Here is a video teaching you how to do it, prepared by fellow real estate agent, Lisa Velenovsky Hayashi...

Dana Hollish Hill I make sure my house is ready for the cold weather every year, before the cold weather hits.  Now I am starting to prepare things for Spring.

In the DC area, we're still hoping for snow and are just getting those freezing nights.
