YouTube Thursdays - Doodly do?

This week, Toby Barnett asked for feedback for this whiteboard animation video created in an online software program called, Doodly. While interesting, we're not sure if we'd use it enough to justify the cost. The best price we found was for the standard plan, paid annually, was $240.

The other drawback ( no pun intended)  that comes to mind is concern as to whether these types of videos build a connection with the audience to a brand, and/or agent personality. Admittedly, we may be missing something.

Animated Videos may be a good way to mix it up.

Do you see value in using these types of videos to convey a marketing message or concept?
Perhaps, you've used them effectively. If so, we'd love to hear more.

Thanks Toby, for letting us explore Doodly, and the idea of whiteboard animation videos for marketing. We always enjoy considering other options.

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

They are intriguing and I have enjoyed them when they have been used as an education tool, but I agree with you, it may not be the best for connecting.  I think it needs to be more personal.

Remember the cartoon real estate agent xtranormal where you supply the text and ta da.... different use of video? If it works in your market, who are those not using it or who have tried it to say do or don't? Running over now to check the channel Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD Thank you for your weekly dedicated to advance video!! This is what happened to that do it yourself animation xtranomal platform.

I felt liek the video was too long, and it took too long to sketch things out.  I can see using it in pieces, as part of another video maybe?  Or shortening this one.

Hi Debb and Bernie:

Thanks for sharing this - not a format I am familiar with.

I have certainly seen a number of animated videos, but always have to wonder if they really DO connect with the intended audience. Guess I prefer a real person and scenario, but perhaps I am just not "with it."

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I have seen videos like this before, mainly for finances, acquiring wealth, and several for medical and/or health. In viewing the video you used to illustrate your point and wondered what we thought, personally, I get too distracted and I don't stay focused on the message that was intended to be projected. My mind wandered. I thought about the art work and how easy the artist makes it look how to draw a building, and all the other interesting ways the pen erases parts of an object and adds something new; then keeps moving on to something new. By the time it got to the beach scene, I was already feeling like a beached seal and had no motivation to work. Whatever the message was supposed be, it sailed away.

Hello Debb and Bernie - thanks for the introduction to Doodly.  It adds to my awareness of video which has been referred to as diddly squat at times.

Hmm, I have never heard of Doodly, but it doesn't look like something I would use either.  I hope that you have a very fun weekend!

Hi Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI - Toby uses a variety of videos. Drones, personalized on-camera videos, listing videos, etc. Hopefully, he'll share the effectiveness of this one, if he can track it.

Hahaha Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 , I'd forgotten about that phenomenon. Thanks for the reminder, and the link to your creation. Hey,  I'm of the school if it works, it works. Hard to argue success. Thanks for your contributions to YouTube Thursdays. D

I tried it but felt it got old so I went a diffrent route. I did not find any success until I had over 200 videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Y8eaKeef052yTN9w5l_WA/videos

I agree that a mix of video-types is the best answer for connecting with an audience, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD ... but for those that are not as advanced or a bit camera shy (of which I admit I am one), this is certainly a good alternative and better than not entering the video marketing world at all.  I appreciate the assessment of this company in particular, as I've seen it advertised often ...

Thank you for sharing this! I've always wondered how they were made and I love watching them. But I'm in agreement, one or two is a nice addition to the other things you're doing, but too many and there's no rapport.

I like them, they are whimsical & obviously cost less. There is someone that commented saying they used them but didn't. I still like the cost of the program & would like to do a few in the future.

Not a fan of those type videos myself. However, I do supplement my own "on-screen" videos with some I create in Lumin5. Great for turning news articles into video slideshows! Giving me more options for content instead of all my videos being the same.

Jeff Dowler, CRS I'm likely too old-school. :)

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP thanks for the observations and your take-away.

Very timely. I was comparing Doodly to Toonly (which does cartoon animations). They are both having $67 lifetime promos, so I will likely check out Toonly.

Here is the link to the promos:
