One of the guests at our dear friend's birthday party was a gentleman we had known when we all lived at the same apartment complex in Brentwood/Los Angeles. Our friend has maintained his friendship with him. At present he owns a private business guiding groups on Safari in Africa.
He had noticed that his guests were usually very busy with their still and video cameras taking photos of the wildlife, and not really enjoying or savoring the moment. He wanted his guests to experience Africa, not just have great photos!
During the journey, he tells the drivers every day to stop the jeeps. He then asks his guests to put down their cameras and recording devices, and to just be quiet and listen to Africa! He guides them to breathe in and smell the air, feel the wind in the savannas, and listen to the sounds of the Mara Masai Reserve. .
The drivers look forward to this moment in the journey. Like the guests, they enjoy the silence and the inner stillness. When the guests pick up their cameras again, their photos and videos results are infinitely better...
When you become aware of silence, immediately there is that state of inner still alertness. You are present. You have stepped out of thousands of years of collective human conditioning.

Wishing you a great Monday!
Take a moment to be still and remember,
"When there is silence
One finds the anchor of the Universe
Within Oneself."
