Recently, I have been having several customers request cool gray paint colors that have more of a blue undertone and look to them. This is great because there are so many amazingly beautiful blue-ish paint colors available. In the world of greiges being used everywhere, these blue paint color requests are a breath of fresh air.
Finding the perfect blue paint color can be a bit on the tricky side. Not all blues are created equally. There is the fear of picking a color and having it look baby blue on the wall. If that's is the color you are going for, that's great. But if it's not, it can throw a wrench in your painting plans. (Reminder, Always swatch your paint colors!)
Blue paint colors that lean on the side of gray are always a great option. They have that blue color you are looking for while staying on the neutral side with the gray in it. The gray limits the chances of blue looking like a baby blue.
Where is the best place to use a blue paint color? Bedrooms and bathrooms are my favorite spaces to use these colors. Blue has a calming presence to it. It also promotes tranquility and relaxation which is exactly what you want in both a bedroom as well as a bathroom.
A few paint colors that I go to when I need the perfect blue-gray paint colors are as follows:
- SW Upward
- SW Storm Cloud
- BM Silver Gray
- BM Nickle
- BM Iceberg
Blue grays are beautiful paint colors that work in all kinds of applications. From the exterior of the home to a master bedroom, choosing a blue-gray paint color is sure to add a sense of calmness and beauty to any space.
So next time you are looking for a paint color and want to branch out a bit, consider a blue-gray paint color.
