The Sedona Full Moon Last Sunday

Sedona Full Moon over Red Rocks

While enjoying a wonderful warm Sunday evening hike, Rick and I noticed the moon peeking in and out of the cloud cover over the red rocks to the east.  It was very large and looked surreal. Obviously we stopped to take a picture...

Hi James Dray - I have learned that the best time to catch a glimpse is the day prior to the full moon. It comes up just before sunset and has magic time all over it!

Hi Wayne Martin - Each month there is a slightly different background that can be captured with a photo!

Hi Nina Hollander - when it was just a tad lower in the sky, it looked about 10% bigger and actually did not look real!

Hi Michael Jacobs - Thank you. There are so many times I am driving and wish I could pull over to take a picture. So when I get the opportunity, I take it!

Hi Kat Palmiotti - It was pretty special because it was also very pleasant out and you could feel spring in the air.

Thank you Brian England - This was one of those moments that the picture did not really do the actual rise of the moon justice. It actually did make you stop to take a longer look at it.

How lovely to hike under the moonlight. I'm not sure why we can't truly capture the true essense of these magical moments via camera. Perhaps, it's a reminder that we really do need to be in the moment fully to really get the entire reward.

What a beautiful capture. I must have been living under a rock because I missed it all. We're only two days out. I'll see if it's still in its glory tonight.

The picture looks like a great landscape painting and is surreal.

Hi Sheri:

What a beautiful scene to enjoy on your walk! Moons with clouds can be some of the most interesting photos.

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - This is so true!  You do have to be in the moment to enjoy the rising moon. No image fully captures the essence.

Hi Mimi Foster - Each full moon generally lasts about 48 hours and rises on two separate days.  I am glad I saw the day before because the night after, it was stuck in the clouds and we have had rain and clouds since!
