This is an interesting time in our lives and for some people presents greater challenges. Instead of complaining loudly on social media about shortages, hoarding, grocery lines, school closing, ethnic crititisms, political rants of too many kinds...shaming others in the profession....look at this as an opportunity.
In many communities/states schools are closed and that presents a problem for working parents without childcare.
Go to your community Facebook groups NOW and Suggest:
- Teenagers and College Students home from school can offer child care in small groups at reduced cost
- Parents can teach children a HUGE life lesson ...go thru closets, toys, etc. and find the things that they have outgrown and donate them to those children who are less fortunate.
- Give Spring cleaning a new meaning and donate items you know longer use/need.
- Be the person in your area to Volunteer to shop for elderly neighbors. Make it known thru your HOA newsletter if you have one...facebook group or get some exercise and distribute flyers.
No need for anyone to Hoard...Be creative with menus...learn to cook new things from what you already have on hand. Try these websites that have recipes with ingredients you are likely to have on hand...it's a starting point...you can add/substract/season as you wish. One is: www.FridgetoTable.Com and another is www.Supercook.com.
Limit shopping to fresh fruits, vegetables, meat ..don't contribute to the chaos and over crowding brought on by the panic. Offer to shop for your neighbor ...reduce their stress during this time.
If you don't have the habit of making regular donations to the local food pantry...this is a great time to start...and add your neighbors contributions as well. The need is acute.
What other ways can you "Take the Positive Lead" AR ? Be the start of it...at the Heart of it...Come from Contribution and be the people who
help....who are positive,..not critical...who will long be remembered for their no so random...acts of kindness.
