No Skiing in Colorado

For as long as I remember, we have only seen issues with the ski areas closing due to too much snow.  BUT, in light of this spreading virus, and social distancing, every ski area in Colorado has closed for a week, and could be longer.   Our first positive results came from mountain resorts from visitors from other areas.

This is quite sad, since we have had the best snow this year than in many years.   Some areas have had record snowfall this year!   And, being Colorado revenue maker, having our ski areas closed even for a week will hurt many small businesses in the mountain towns.  Some that have come for a vacation to ski are now snow shoeing or walking up the mountain, and skiing down.  (thinking that is really good exercise)

Sure hope these measures help stop the spread, and we can go on living our lives normally again.

Hi Joan:

I heard this on the news and I believe there are resorts closed in CA, too. The financial impact will likely be huge and will trickle down to other businesses. Such a challenging time.

Jeff, I figured it was across the US, and not limited to Colorado.  It is a challenging time, and just have to hope for the small businesses to survive.

Hi Joan Cox - I am sure there are a lot of disappointed skiers and snowboarders. Sedona is busy.  With all the kids out of school, and baseball canceled, I think people are coming up for hiking!

Good morning, Joan... sad for sure that the slopes have to close when there is such good skiing. Won't it be great to get back to normal?

It certainly is a crazy time with everything being closed or canceled.  I had tickets for a basketball tournament and that was canceled.

Roy Kelley many businesses are, you are so right.  I fear the small business owner may be out of business by the time this is over.

Nina Hollander it is definitely different times right now, and hope our "normal" comes back soon, not mid-summer.

Brian England so sorry to hear about your tickets, and hope you get a refund.  I feel bad for those families that booked a week in the mountains for spring break, and now even the hotels are closed.

Grant, I fear for those small business owners for sure.  They cannot live for too long not being open.
