When it comes to selling your Douglasville home, some would have it that there is simply no better day to do it than St. Patrick’s Day. Since that idea seems to make little or no sense, you might wonder where it comes from—a question that’s easily answered. The connection between St. Pat’s Day and real estate originates with the real estate marketing supply companies.
Every year, just about every one of us connected with Douglasville real estate is urged to order from a blitz of promotional materials with St. Patrick’s Day themes. These include postcards, flyers, shamrock-shaped stickers, etc. This year’s disappointing cancellation of so many St. Pat’s parades probably won’t deter them next year, either. They’ll be right back at it, promoting the idea that St. Pat’s is somehow the perfect theme to spur Douglasville real estate activity.
The art on the promotional materials features rivers of bright green ink, smiling leprechauns, rainbows, pots of gold, and, frequently, horseshoes (for some reason). A note about the drawings: the pipe-smoking leprechauns are all “wee,” and wear hats with buckles. And the shamrocks are sometimes technically four-leaf clovers—probably because those are luckier than shamrocks.
The text on the “your Company name here” St. Pat’s handouts looks Celtic, usually emphasizing tie-ins like “It takes more than luck to sell your house” or “You won’t need the Luck ‘O the Irish’ to sell your Douglasville home.” That last must be aimed at Realtors® who fear offending would-be clients who aren’t Irish. It’s also possible to download a pamphlet titled, “Catchy Real Estate St. Patrick’s Day Slogans List”—but most of the slogans are disappointingly recycled from other, less Irish holidays.
The long and the short of it is that although this Tuesday would indeed be a terrific day to close a sale on your Douglasville home, it isn’t demonstrably better than Wednesday. In fact, on Wednesday, you’d be able to celebrate the sale without being distracted by leprechauns, shamrocks, rainbows, and the like.
In any case, you needn’t fret if you’ve missed this year’s St. Patrick’s Day opportunity to clinch your home’s sale—just give me a call. We’ll make up for lost time immediately!
