What are you seeing out there?

As the sun rises over Hampton Beach NH, I sit and ponder the Real Estate world around me. I guess the first thing to note is where you are, definately will affect how much you are affected. I am seeing a mix of public reactions. Here in NH we are tucked away from the madness of the densely populated cities. This week alone I have spoke with clients who have locked themselves in their home fearing every other human.

I also have sellers calling saying they need to sell quick. On the flip side I have "would be" buyers who are calling saying they still need to find a home and quickly if possible. Depending on the news media you want to turn on, you are getting different messages.

The first thing that comes to mind for me is before seeing any client, to ask if they or anyone in their home sick? Did they visit China or Europe in the last month? To not drive with any clients but meet them there. Of course the largest trust is people are telling you the truth that the buyer or seller is not sick. In our area with few sick and seemingly those 13 people sick in the whole state having visited an affected area or been in direct contact with someone in an affected area the risk is still low.

Some agents have closed their offices. Consumers seem to just move onto someone who is open. The amount of inquiries is down a good 75%. However those who do inquire still want to buy or sell. Yesterday in showing a home my buyer wore gloves and she left the kids at home. The seller left out wipes for us. We kept a distance as we walked around the home. The buyer loved the home and showed her kids by video. She made a great offer which the seller accepted.

IN THE END, things may change here in NH and all business may end temporarily. For now it is not business as usual, but business with caution.

THE BOTTOM LINE is to know how important it is that every Buyer or Seller should not just choose any agent, choose the BEST agent for the job. Having an agent that works for you is a must. Support your local businesses.

My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. Those that hire me, find a dedication like no other.

Hello Scott - although you are experiencing life today on a different scale than one may observe elsewhere, it seems there is more in common than so dramatically different.  The range of "feelings" proves once again(no surprise) how people are unique.

Well, our two new listing clients are opting to wait and see. I completely understand. And with most of us encouraged to stay at home, it is likely impacting buyers too.

Hi Scott,
I'm pretty much staying home while things settle down and work out. We are under some fairly strict social distancing orders from the State of Washington.

There is no place I NEED to go at this point. I have plenty of food. I haven't done any take-out food ordering yet but I might at some point just for something different.
