Sharon Lee good morning, Sharon... I liked that quote as well... it was just so "real."
Home is where our hearts are. Now more than ever we realize that our homes are our safe place to be and thankful for that.
We will Do what we can to stay safe and not be a carrier to harm someone else.

Rose Mary Justice good morning, Rosemay. You and I think alike in this regard. I'm more concerned about people who might be thinking they don't need to do what's needed to keep themselves and everyone around them safe.
Michael Jacobs good morning, Michael... if the current situation isn't teaching us all about what a back to basics life/home is about, I don't know what would.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... my home has always been my sanctuary and I can't say I've ever lived in a dangerous place... but my own perspective of my home being a safe haven is more refined than it was even one week ago. Happy Wednesday!
Hello Nina, I see more people that cars are not leaving their homes and working from home. Other then the grocery store I have only left to show homes on Sunday!

Will Hamm hi Will... for now, I think it's better not to even show homes. My concern is that there are so many people out there that are asymptomatic that they don't even know they are spreading the virus... and we can't tell either.
Lottie Kendall hi Lottie... an awful lot of people treat their homes like a roof with four walls. It does the job of being their shelter... but they don't think of it as a sanctuary.
Beautifully written. I echo those same sentiments.

George Souto for sure, George... as in many aspects of life... it's what we make of it. My home has always been my safety net from an emotional standpoint, but I've grown to appreciate its safety from a physical standpoint in a way I hadn't done previously.
Hi Nina - at this time especially you can say our home is safe have. It is our most important asset.

I love this post, Nina. And I'm so thankful for this place of refuge. I just wish all my chicks could be here with me so we could play games and snuggle like we did when they were kids and the electricity went out. Thanks for this encouraging post.

Hi Nina- love this post, and I can relate. I know the feeling I get when I walk into my home, whether it's after being gone all day, on a trip, or just when I need a place that is away from what's going on.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP thank you, Patricia. I would hope this post was "timely" as it was written specifically for the situation we are all living in right now. Be safe, my friend.
Mimi Foster thank you so much, Mimi... I suspect after this pandemic is over, we will all be looking at our homes a bit differently than we have in the past. And, hopefully, appreciating our families and loved ones more than ever.
Kathy Streib thanks, Kathy. Your comments reminded me of what I say to clients who are on the fence over several houses and ask me which one I'd pick... I always tell them to go into their mind's eye and see which house they see themselves coming home to after a long day at work or a trip.
James Dray now that's bummer, James... and now you'll have me wondering all morning what you wrote! :)

Hi Nina. Yes, I completely agree with your thoughts and sayings about our home being a safe haven during this whole pandemic, I haven't gone out much except to go buy something from the stores. As seniors we certainly have to be safe and concern with where we go these days.

Roy Kelley we are also staying at home for the most part. Chris still takes the dog for a walk each day. I go out as needed for groceries.
Jerry Newman hi Jerry... as a septuagenarian I certainly fall into the senior category... and I'm staying cautious, but I'm not hiding and not taking silly chances. Be safe, Jerry.

Yes, Nina. At age 74, I am concerned with health and safety too. I am working from home mostly these days with limited showings for buyers.
Hi Nina:
I suspect many more people are thinking of their homes in very different ways now, emotionally and otherwise. We are certainly spending more time there, and many with others surrounding them for long periods. No doubt many are experiencing a dramatic shift in the lifestyles they may have been accustomed to.
Enjoy your weekend at home!!

It's like a big hug when we walk through the door. Home is our safe haven, and reflects a lot about us too. I know we both give daily thanks for our wonderful home right now. Like Mimi Foster, I just wish my kids and grandkids were here with us. That would be paradise.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD hi Debb... that's a great way of putting it... that home is like a big hug when we walk through the door. It's how I feel each time I walk through my door.
We in our industry talk and repeat things in almost a rote manner at times, Nina Hollander ... we speak the language so much. But it's true ... at times such as these ... our home is and should be our safe place and a haven. Sometimes we must be reminded. I think that's been done ...

Great post and way to look at things right now. Have always considered my home to be a place of safety and refuge, a place to decompress from the world. Living in rented accomodation this year, i see nature as my go to place to decompress right now and a good book as well.

Hi Nina Hollander - I have a work office but I spend a lot of time conducting business in my home. What makes me relate to your blog is when I come home from a vacation of any kind. Whether it is 2 days or 30 days, I am always so glad to be home!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® hi Sheri... I only ever run into the office to deliver checks, make copies, go to a meeting. I meet clients there in one of our conference rooms... but otherwise, it all happens in my office at home.
Good evening Nina Hollander ,
So glad that Kathy Streib featured your post on her "Ah-ha" moments for the week post. I've always looked our home as a refuge, a safe harbor. At first when my Geno passed away I found it difficult to be here as it reminded me of "Our place" and was so difficult to walk through the door and not see him. Now I'm grateful beyond words to have the lovely home I have as a safe refuge..he is still here just not in the physical sense.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR hi Dorie... I am so happy that your home has again become more of refuge than a place of sorrow. After my mother died and I was going back and forth to NYC to clear out her home, it always felt strange to walk through her door and not find her there. So I can relate to how you may have been feeling those first weeks after Geno died.
The emotional value of owning a home has become even more evident in the last few weeks, hasn't it Nina? Even though there seems to be a grace period coming for those with mortgages, owning a home free and clear is one huge security blanket. It's something for everyone to strive for as one more layer of comfort and security in life.

Carol Williams hi Carol... for sure, the last few weeks have clearly shown that one's home is more than four walls and a roof.

Words well spoken (or written)! I am so thankful to have a safe haven well away from any large population centers, with our own supply of water and power as well. It's going to be a long and tough course we're on.

Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR thanks, Mary, for stopping by and the kind comment. Right now, I won't even go there in my thoughts as to the virus coming into my house... can't live being paranoid! :)
Diana Dahlberg good morning, Diana. Thanks for the nice comment and for popping by. How often did we hear from parents and teachers when we were growing up that it's better to be safe than sorry? Those words can't be truer than they are today. Stay well!

Joe Pryor hi Joe... I was thinking about that kind of living just a few days ago after talking with my former partner in NYC... his coop on Fifth Avenue had just had its first corona virus diagnosis. Of course, I lived in buildings like that all my life until we moved to Charlotte in 1998. And I never gave it a second's thought about living so close to other people, taking elevators, pushing elevator buttons, etc.
Great post! Being at home so much I definitely have been making changes, doing projects, and finishing other projects. I'm happy to be where I am and hope others have a safe place to be!
