Zillow exists because people want to snoop properties without a REALTOR or pre-approval letter. You're off the mark if you think it's the market reports as a primary reason in SoCal. I talk to CA buyers and sellers daily, it's not market reports. It's self interest in these top 3 answers when I ask "why Zillow". My interpretation of their answers:

It's property access/curiocity (where they have no budget business), it's the make me move experimenting and it's Zestimates.

But, good luck with your new venture. If market reports are big elsewhere, it sounds like a winner! 

It's amazing how many people like to look at th is data,even when they aren't planning a move!

Some people are information overload ... sounds like a great idea for those you "want" it but I see many people opting out.  Good luck in your venture.
