An open letter to COVID-19
Abundance, Gratitude, Positivity, Inspirational, Resolute, Opportunity, Community, Connection; all words used by the Century Toastmasters today (video meeting) as each member offered up their positive solutions and best practices for today's "new normal COVID-19 world".
Allow me to share the "good stuff" we discussed:
These are unprecedented times in the COVID-19 world. We will persevere if we remain calm, generous and resolved to do so, no matter our circumstances.
We were reminded today that you have the power to turn this moment in time into a great memory! How?
Reinvest in you; brush the dust off your procrastinated goals - read that book, work out, catch up on that positive podcast, learn that language, practice your guitar, etc. Keep your head full of positive news, information and solutions.
Be creative and resourceful and remove the "doomsday-chicken littles" from your headspace. Yes, stay informed, but go on a news diet, don't be glutinous with the negative news.
Reinvest in your family; take advantage of this extra time with your kids to upgrade your interactions, disciplines and boundaries.
Extra time with spouse can be fun too. (I predict a baby boom in December 2020 - Feb 2021 ;) )Have a safe word to squash "cabin fever" sniping and breathe! Namaste.
Reinvest in your community; be kind to others, don't deplete shelves and supplies at the stores, share your resources with the needy, convalescent and elderly in your neighborhood. Check in with neighbors living alone. Abundance mentality is calming, scarsity is stressful and dibilating.
This can be a very unique opportunity to turn what you do with this time of life into a positive memory. How will you reflect back on yourself five years from today? I'm nervous but avoiding worry, and I'm resolved to remain positive no matter what. This too shall pass.
