There are so many unintended consequences from this Corona Virus thing. One of the most serious has to do with animal shelters and rescue groups. Unfortunately with an eye toward human safety many shelters are essentially closed and rescue groups who normally operate out of pet stores are not able to do much about getting their animals seen or adopted. As a result, so many animals are languishing with even less attention than unusual and the people who generally care for them are overtaxed because many are just not showing up.
So what can you do? You can foster a shelter pet and give them a break and yourself a much needed opportunity to do some good for another living being. I have fostered often in my life and always been improved by the connection. I lost my last foster failure, Billy the Kid, last July but he is with me always. My other fosters are now living happily in loving homes. They learned from me and mine and were better for the experience. Most of us who are confined to home can't find a passion to embrace now. Please consider fostering an animal who will show you their gratitude and probably improve your day to day with their love.
Billy the Kid, 2007-2019
