Physical distance, but social connection.

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

I've never really gotten into daytime television.  And now, due to Covid-19, I'm reminded why.

Spending a great deal of time, these days, trying to avoid physical contact.  My children keep calling me to tell me "Dad... you need to stop showing property... you need to shelter in place".  I know, I know.  We're hammered with that message all day long.

I've never washed my hands as much, in my life.  But I have sellers who still need to sell... we're sending off extra photos to online inquiries... videos... FaceTime.

I have buyers who still need to buy... in fact they're starting to panic... 'cause they have a looming deadline, and can't go out house-hunting easily.

We are managing to keep a physical distance, but keeping our social connection through our online presence.

For me, ActiveBrain has taken on some new, but reminiscent, importance.  It's a way to connect with my fellow Realtors (and Real Estate aligned business people).  People who are living through the very same circumstances as I am.  They understand the compulsion to help our buyers and sellers ... while we like to get paid... it's not really about the money... we have clients who need our help.

So, I anticipate being a little more active in the rain than I have been of late.  Get ready to get really tired of seeing me around...

Yes, Alan. I hear your concerns, and I most likely will follow your lead with getting back into posting more online in the Rain too. Everyone of us has been affected by these chain of events from COVID-19. Stay Safe and listen to your children. Best Wishes in all that you do!

Communicating via computer, phone and notes is more important than ever. We cannot show property, meet vendors at our listings (they can't come anyway) or hold open houses. But...we can have Zoom conferences, refer buyer to lenders so they get their financing set, make offers subject to visual inspection once shelter-in-place is lifted, etc.

Good afternoon Alan. Look forward to your increased presence and your continued efforts helping customers buy and sell. It is about to get harder if Pritzker announces a shelter in place.

Alan- well, it that's all it took to get you back!!!!  With social distancing the norm for now (and I understand that Illinois is in shelter at home mode) it's even more important to keep in touch with others even if virtually. We have the tools now, more than ever, to be able to do this!

Thanks for the warning Alan. :)  Actually, it will be nice to see your take on things more often in the Rain. We've had awesome weather lately and it's been very tolerable to be home, time in the garden makes me happy. We have two sellers who are fine with waiting to list, their choice, and no buyers who are in dire need of a home. We are reaching out to our SOI to see how they are, and working on marketing. Good time for both activities. Take care and we'll look for the next post.

Hi Alan:

No chance of getting tired of your posts! I never watch daytime TV and have no plans to start now, no matter how desperate I get! I have no buyers who need to buy so they can wait for some time. A couple of listings are on hold for the time being, but 1 seller is pretty anxious, and hopeful the activity will generate a contract too.

Hi Alan,
Thankfully, I still have some shows recorded so I shouldn't get desperate for daytime shows.  Hang in there!

Great seeing your post!  I so agree.  Gotta do what people need us to do. I'm very thankful that everything is under contract and the listings I'm getting are postponing for a while. I just hope this goes away quickly!
