I am sure there are international members here... not intended to leave you out - just insert your own country's name in when reading - the sentiment holds true!

So, my business partner jumps in last night on Facebook and starts a group specifically for small businesses in the area to post their ads and business hours announcements / updates in during this difficult time.  Those are the only posts allowed. Period.

You know, our community already has several "classified" type groups and whatnot, so I thought this would be a waste of time...well business owners flocked - and support from the community has been amazing!  Support those now who have supported you and your kids' little league teams, etc...in the past.

Want to stand out in your community? Then stand UP and take action to support and help keep your community going strong and band them together. If you do this, please be sure to come back here and share the results...I will update about ours as well!

Here is our simple little community group:

Good message...Christine.  We would all love to buy American, American made goods, etc.  And we are both conscious of that also.  However, buying local at our Nordstroms supports employees who live here and spend money here.  Nordstrom's is not a local store...Nor are our supermarkets like Trader Joe's which year to date has donate to Santa Barbara county close to $900,000...How about their employees who live here and serve us ?  I love my country, and I love the people that work here with whom we have been in contact with for the almost 12 years we have lived here, and I want to see them thrive...I think the concept of local needs to be re-defined.  A.

In this context, I 100% agree!  There are days dedicated during the holidays to #SmallBusinessSaturday etc... but in my context...I really mean to shop all businesses that keep your local economy going.  Where I am right now...it does happen to be small businesses, but if I were to drive 1/2 north to the Capitol of our state (Montana), Helena, then that definition would change.
