Cheezy, Sleezy Salesperson, Drama Queen or Classy Professional?
Funny...True in some way.
Cheezy, Sleezy Salesperson, Drama Queen or Classy Professional?
While we are 'stuck at home' during these unprecedented times, many are turning to social media to be seen and heard. Our businesses depend upon our staying top-of-mind but, in times like this, how are you responding to that call?
Sadly, we're seeing a lot of cheesiness going on! While we may joke a bit about it but, boy, it surely does scream of desperation and lack of TRUE concern for the consumer. We are a service-based business and giving of ourselves, our knowledge and our best-foot-forward efforts are what the consumer is looking for right now - not sleaziness! Being there as a professional for our clients and potential clients is key right now - we simply don't need to be in their faces.
Continue your regular marketing to demonstrate the calm leader that you are. Remember that when you portray business as usual, you allay fears and instill calm. It is also very important to me that my clients view me as human.
Most of my clients are social media friends who know that transparency is very important to me. I share my human side on social media every day. These days are no different - in fact, our friends, family and clients need us to be more human now than ever before.
This was originally not in my post but, I just received a nice message from a client who is currently in Escrow. He wanted to thank me for being 'real' and for not creating drama around the anticipated Closing with regards to COVID-19. He follows me on social media and stated that he wanted to thank me for not saying things like, "this is scary" or dreadful, devastating, etc.
I explained that I used to be a nurse and have a lot of physician and nurse friends who are helping me 'keep it real.' I don't even quote them - I only cite CDC or WHO and recommend that everyone watch the daily updates from the White House Task Force. I highly recommend that you do the same. Your clients and/or potential clients will see how you handle yourself - especially now when people have more online time on their hands.
I've seen quotes from other real estate professionals from websites that are not 'official' - some that even state that the information has not been verified when you visit the site! That, my friends, is what drama kings and queens do and it is not helping their professional reputation AT ALL.
In a nutshell - just be you and be there for them professionally - when they need you - not in their faces, especially during this time that is very difficult for many. Share TRUTH and FACTS - not information from non-credible sites. YES, this is real and YES, we all need to be cautious and by all means, practice social distancing. We need not add a dose of drama...just be real.
