So you wanna see my home?

It makes sense that buyers and sellers of homes are both wondering if showings are still allowed during this reduced marketplace. And, is it okay to allow buyers in to see my house.

The short answer is YES! Homes are still being viewed and sold! In fact, the overall atmosphere of the market has not changed. It is still busy and thriving.

What has changed is the procedure. Here is a a short list of recommendations for sellers and buyers to consider:

1. Open houses have been dis-allowed. All showings must now be set up thru a Realtor and viewed on an individual showing basis.
2. Showings are no longer allowed to overlap. The recommendation is for one showing to be allowed at a time. I am actually cool with this. The only thing more awkward than a seller being home during a showing is another family tromping thru at the same time.
3. The recommendation is to allow a 2 hour window between showings for the sellers to clean surfaces before different buyers enter the home.
4. Buyers are recommended to keep their hands in their pockets so as not to touch surfaces and leave germs behind.
5. It is recommended for Realtors to use hand sanitizer before opening any doors and after leaving the home. This reduces the amount of germs brought in... and out.
6. It is recommended for Realtors to meet their clients at the home (not ride together) and to keep the "lookers" at a minimum keeping the numbers low.

As time moves on these recommendations may and will likely change, but for now they make viewing homes doable and okay. In this ever changing marketplace we will continue to hope for a quick recovery to total freedom of movement, but for now we will shift to the new groove to protect all involved in any transaction.
