It is almost time for spring clean up which usually means going through your garage, your kitchen, and other rooms in your house to see what you want to get rid of. For some, the main room you will focus on is your closet! Here are some tips on how to declutter your closet.
Tip 1: Does it fit? Like does it really fit??
If it doesn’t fit, it makes hardly any sense to keep it. While you may love this item, pack it away for a couple days and see if you miss it. If you don’t then get rid of it!
Tip 2: New seasons bring in new items
With spring here, look back at the cooler weather and think about what you have worn or what you haven’t worn. When it gets cold again, think about what you had/had not worn. If you didn’t wear something before, you probably won’t wear it again.
Tip 3: Just a little bit at a time
You don’t have to completely get rid of your entire closet in one day. Set a goal, even if it is just 30 minutes, and go through part of your closet. You will notice that over time, your closet will be getting cleaned out little by little!
Tip 4: Balance your buying.
If you want a new item, like pants, and end up buying them, before you put them in your closet make sure you remove a pair you don’t wear or that is maybe old. By doing this, you will be sure that you don’t clutter up your space!
Tip 5: Donate!
There are many people out there that could benefit from that item that you have not even tried on in the past months. Even if you like an item, think about how much joy that will give another person and odds are, they will like it just as much. For an added bonus, you can always use your donations as tax deductions.
Have fun decluttering your closets!
