What Makes My Neighborhood Of Ardrey In Charlotte's Ballantyne Area So Special?
Located in the upscale Ballantyne area of south Charlotte, Ardrey is a truly unique 349 home neighborhood featuring historic and classic Charleston and Victorian architecture. Painted in a rainbow of colors (my own house is a hydrangea blue color as you can see in the picture to the left), Ardrey homes feature authentic and historic architectural details... all with front porches, side screened porches ~ which give the Ardrey neighborhood a singular charm and timeless appeal.
Whenever I'm asked where I live and I say I live in Ardrey... the immediate response is "oh yes, that colorful neighborhood that looks like Charleston. I love that neighborhood!"
Ardrey is situated on 53 acres of common space with 12 named pocket parks inside the subdivision. Ardrey features great amenities, which include a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, bocce court, dog park, children's playground, and a 35 acre nature preserve.
With sidewalks on both sides of the street, Ardrey is a true walking neighborhood where residents get to know their neighbors as they take an evening or morning stroll or walk their dogs.
Ardrey residents love sitting on their front porches -- to watch the world go by, to chat with neighbors passing by, and to entertain. I love sitting on my neighbor's porch each Halloween helping give out candy to neighborhood kids. It's a 3-hour long block party every October 31st.
Ardrey is an award winning neighborhood. In 2005 Ardrey was named North Carolina "Community of the Year" by the North Carolina Homebuilder's Association. Cunnane Group, a local, luxury home builder, who developed and built Ardrey, also won the award for "Best Landscape Design" for the community. A canopy of trees cover Ardrey streets. Its parks are beautifully landscaped as are the private yards of the residents. It's a "feast for the eyes" to stroll through Ardrey regardless of season.
What's The Neighborhood Like?
Living in Ardrey is like going back in time into an old-fashioned neighborhood, while the interiors of the homes offer high end, custom finishes and a 21st century lifestyle.
Ardrey goes all out decorating its homes for the Christmas holidays and we attract a great number of people from all around the Charlotte region driving through our streets to enjoy the festive lights. The neighborhood is consistently rated one of the best Charlotte neighborhoods to visit to see Christmas lights. Imagine street after street of houses decked out with twinkling lights.
Homes in Ardrey range from 2,700 to over 4,000 square feet with an open-concept floor plan. All the homes feature two or three car garages, screened porches, front porches, spacious rooms with 10 foot ceilings, custom finishes such as 4-piece crown molding and extensive hardwood flooring. All of the homes have spacious first floor owner's suites and many of the plans offer an additional bedroom or two on the main floor. Although Ardrey is not an Active Adult community and we have many younger families in the neighborhood, these floor plans with multiple bedrooms on the main floor very much appeal to empty-nesters and seniors who don't want to live in an age-restricted community, but still want to enjoy primarily one-story living.
Lawn maintenance is handled by the homeowner association, providing Ardrey homeowners the best elements and convenience of town house living in a single family neighborhood. For those of us (like me) who no longer want to fuss with yard maintenance, this is a great feature of the neighborhood.
I've often said we may have more four-footed residents in Ardrey than two-footed residents. Ardrey dogs adore the dedicated dog park... when it's not raining, our Bingo can't wait to get to the park each morning to play and run with his doggie friends.
