Earlier this week I mentioned a handful of things that one could do while enjoying our extra time at home. Because we have a couple of weeks to be hampered down at home I thought I'd throw out a few more ideas. Today though I thought we'd head outdoors. So, if you are home and need some spring clean inspiration... here are a few ideas to get you moving.
10. Walk around the house and take inventory. We live on a bit of acreage so this is somewhat necessary. We look at the exterior of the buildings, the lawn, the trees. Oftentimes this dictates our spring cleanup effort and what needs to take precedence.
9. Pick up the garbage along the roadside. As an afterthought I wondered if this should have been cleaning up the dog doo. Spring is notorious for being a messy job on that front. But seriously. It's amazing in our "hood" how much trash collects in the ditches off our road.
8. Wash the outside of the windows. In my last list I had washing the windows, but if you only washed the inside... now it's time to match the outer ones to the sparkly fresh of the insides.
7. Sweep the drive. This might be a moot point if you have a gravel drive... but we find the need to sweep in the spring due to all the winter salt we drag home from the highways.
6. Clean out the car and wash it. It's gonna be 50 degrees this weekend! What a great time to shine up the car - both inside AND out. Maybe it'll look like new again!
5. Clean out the garage.... put away winter gear. Sleds, skates, hockey sticks. It's just time. It's time to let go of winter and embrace the new season.
4. Trim the trees and clean up the branches. Not everyone is as lucky as we are. We have these trees that spit sticks at us. It is a constant disaster area under our trees. What a great time to clean up the fallen branches, trim up the ones that need a haircut and get ready for mowing the lawn!
3. Plan out the summer garden and decide what seeds to buy. Whether you have a huge veggie garden or a single pot on the stoop it's a good time to think about what you want to plant this summer. What better time is there to start getting the resources set up?
2. Weed the flower gardens. And since you are planning anyways... why not get those pesky last season weeds out of the way.
1. Clean the grill and fire it up! And last, but certainly not least... This is the PERFECT time to set up the grill and enjoy a picnic in the beautiful spring fresh air!
Hopefully being asked (nicely) by our governor hasn't completely put you out. There are so many projects that one could undertake. And with the beautiful spring weather that we have coming it is a good time to take advantage and tackle some of those necessary but pesky tasks.
