I work on site for a builder in Sachse Texas. I love meeting all the differant types of people who walk through the door every day. I love helping families find their new home. Sure we have people who are just shopping. People who are just trying to get in from the heat and have somewhere to cool down. Occassionaly we have people who really don't want to buy a home and are just there. To many times in the past month I have had people walk through my door and tell me that when they visited builder xyz in the same neighborgood as me, they were not treated very kindly. By the time they left they were thanking me for helping them and being so proffesional and respectful to them. Instead of this making me feel good about myself, it made me a little sad.
Why are we here? I thought we were here to sell homes. Every time someone walks thru the door it is an opportunity. Maybe they do not have the ability to buy a house from you today. It does not mean that they will never be able to buy a home or that they do not know someone who is or will be in the market for a new home. I have had people who other builders have turned away because of appearance or did not want to wast their time with, come to me and bring me a refferal. Just because I was nice and treated them like they were a person. Let's get real. You are not so busy with people beating down your door that you can not take a minute to greet another person. We know that we could all the extra practice on our demonstration process. Please do not turn people away...... Sell them a home!
