House Showings and COVID-19,

Tips on how to tip-toe through a showing.

Adjusting to life in the age of Covid-19 has been challeging to say the least. Real Estate has been deemed an essential business in many places and creating a safe and healthy environment is paramount to our success and safety as Real Estate Agents. As a Realtor, our CRS has compiled a list of suggested tips to assist in the reduction and prevention of the spread of Covid-19 through our communities.

BEST PRACTICES FOR SHOWINGS:

It is important to understand that our knowledge of the disease is incomplete, however, it is believed that the disease is passed by close contact with infected parties through liquid particles passed by coughing, sneezing, and talking. These particles can exist on hard surfaces for days and can be transferred to unsuspecting individuals by touching the surface and then touching ones face, nose, mouth, and or eyes. To avoid the transmission of the virus through casual contact with people or surfaces it is advised that the following be worn when engaging clients and customers.

Personal Protection:

  • Medical Mask or suitable Face Cover
  • Disposable Rubber Gloves
  • Hand Sanitizer and Surface Sanitizer

Digital Sign-ins:

Make sure to collect all necessary information on potential buyers digitally, do not use paper and pen or sign-in sheets.

Follow the Protocols:

Keep a list of protocols to follow and check each one to ensure you are maintaining effective protective measures, for all parties involved in the showing. To the best of your ability keep at least 6 feet between you and showing participants and avoid any close contact. Wash your hands, thoroughly after the showing and avoid touching your face.

Tips for the Seller:

1) Open all interior doors, wipe down door knobs, cabinet pulls, and handles after showing.

2) Leave open cabinet, closet doors, and anything else the buyer might want to investigate.

3) Provide buyers with booties or shoe covers during the showing.

4) Open windows and doors to let fresh air through the property.

Tips for the Buyer:

1) Refrain from touching any surfaces while viewing the property.

2) Use your own car or personal conveyance, do not car pool with others.

3) Wear disposible booties when viewing property interiors

4) Keep a personal handsanitizer with you when visiting a listing.
