Why Charlotte NC? I'll Tell You Why!

Charlotte North Carolina

Historically, Charlotte was perceived as a textile center, then a banking center and more recently, a strong energy sector. While Charlotte remains proud of the industries with which it has been associated over the years, this small, segmented stereotype sells the city's economy short.

Charlotte is proud of her vibrant, balanced economy that encompasses many sectors, as well as companies that range in size from micro-businesses to multinational corporations. Charlotte's economy is easily one of the healthiest and strongest in the nation. Diverse business interests shelter Charlotte from many of the ill effects resulting from slowdowns in certain sectors, corporate mergers and buyouts and other economic challenges.  Our sound economy facilitates exceptionally strong growth during economic upswings.

rising economy

Companies considering relocating to Charlotte find other advantages in this broad-based economy as well.  Supplies and services are abundant and convenient, costs for wages, benefits and labor overhead, such as worker's compensation, unemployment and health insurance coverage, are significantly lower than in other regions of the country.

Charlotte enjoys an unusually rich quality of life, with ample opportunity for companies and executives who wish to actively participate in making this city an even better place to live and work is available as well.

According to recent Employment Security Commission figures, employment in the Charlotte MSA is now distributed among all major business sectors. The 1,333,948 persons employed in the Metro in June, 2019 were dispersed in the following sectors:

1. Healthcare

2. Finance and insurance

3. Retail trade

4. Wholesale trade

5. Manufacturing

6. Energy

Mecklenburg County offers 74.8% of the total employment in the Charlotte Metro region.

Charlotte ranks 6th nationally in number of Fortune 500 headquartered companies. It also is home to operations for 328 companies listed in the Fortune 500.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg's largest employers represent many sectors, including health care, government services, education, banking and finance, transportation, retail, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

Among corporate headquarters located in Charlotte, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Duke Energy, Sonic Automotive, SPX, Nucor and Goodrich Corporations are also some of our largest employers.

Charotte business news
931 companies in Mecklenburg County are included in D & B's Million Dollar Listing, with sales over $10 million including 22 companies which exceed $1 billion in sales. I am proud to say that my brokerage is one of the $1B+ companies!

The Dun & Bradstreet firms represent a broad range of industry sectors, the largest being wholesale trade, manufacturing, finance, insurance and real estate.

In the latest WalletHub study of Best Large Cities to Start a Business, Charlotte ranked 6th (2019). Charlotte has also been cited by Entrepreneur and Fortune magazines as one of the nation's best large cities for entrepreneurs to start and run a small business.

LYNXCharlotte has a very active Chamber of Commerce, City Council and County Commission. Together the representatives of these groups have displayed tremendous economical foresight for the Queen City.

Thanks to our leaders, we have seen the development and implementation of many world-class touches to the city that we, as residents, thought were a bit premature.  For example, the light rail was fought tooth-and-nail by residents but, the light rail has increased property values near the rail, brought an onslaught of businesses along the rail that are now thriving and many new developments, both residential and commercial.  Our community leaders definitely hit the mark with the light rail!

Queen Charlotte Sophia, German-born wife of King George III of England, would surely be proud to know this thriving cosmopolitan city in North Carolina, named for her, is considered THE place to live!

The list of wonderful attributes for this fabulous city goes on and on! Call me - I'll tell you all about the Queen City! (704) 491-3310.

Here's my 'original' relocation video - all done with my phone so, forgive the lack of professional videography!

Morning Debe.

Charlotte, sounds like a very busy place. I like a small town atmosphere. Personally, my area is growing so fast, that I'm not liking it, as far as traffic etc.

Wow, Debe, terrific post about Charlotte and all the excellent reasons that make it such a popular, and thriving community! Despite living on the East coast for a couple of decades, and visiting the south a number of times I've never had the pleasure of being in Charlotte. Some day perhaps!

Thanks for your entry - this will serve you well for sharing with those interested in moving there.
