If you know me, or have been following me for a bit, then you know that I'm not only fluent in Real Estate, but also in German. And if you know me and the German language, then you know that we have the best words! Long, long before Pandemic Pounds or Covid-15 became a thing, we already had a word for it:
Yes, many, if not most, are grieving the - temporary - loss of our regular routine, social interactions, and activities. It's okay, it's normal. And it's okay to not be okay at times, and to try to soothe this not-okayness with food. Just beware of the grief-bacon, it's a real thing. When we grieve, we are looking for comfort - a home cooked meal, or carry-out from our favorite restaurant can provide that comfort.
Spending so much time in our own four walls, can add fuel to the bacon - so to speak. A shortened commute to our primary food sources, the fridge and pantry, is not helpful.
So beware of the grief bacon. Step away from your fridge! Tape off the kitchen if you must. Schedule physical activity firmly into your daily agenda, it should be nonnegotiable. Walking, hiking and running have not been canceled! Use it to clear your head, or catch up with your favorite peeps. I go out twice a day - a morning walk and an afternoon activity with my children. It keeps me moving forward, literally and physically. It keeps me motivated. It keeps me focused. And it keeps the grief-bacon at bay!
Just in case you are wondering, phonetically it looks like this: koommarshpek.
If you want to hear its pronunciation, call me. If you want to find a new home in a walkable community, or close to a park to make your battle of the grief-bacon easier, call me. If you need a motivational conversation whilst you are out walking, call me. If you want to hear more about how I can still help you buy and/or sell a house, call me, Andrea Bedard, Thompson Company, REALTORS 240.593.2860.
I am available. I am here for you!
