Yes we are all concerned about going to the Grocery Store. So  Ed Silva  commented on one of my posts, this in turn inspired this creation. A quick appetizer, munchies before dinner. How about some Home made Hummus?

www.endrebarath.com

Lucky for us I had all the ingredients:

1 can of (15-16 oz) can of chickpease aka garbanzo beans

1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice (picked from my back yard)

1/4 cup of tanhin paste well stirred ( if you do not have it real easy to make just ask me)

1 small clove of garlice minced

2 table spoon of Olive Oil

1/2 half a tespoon of ground cumin

Salt to taste ( I do not use it)

2-3 table  spoon of water

Smoked paprika for serving

www.endrebarath.com

Take youw food processor combine the tahini and lemon suice and prcesss for about a inute or more. Then scrape the sides and botom of the bowl. process for anothe 30 seconds or more. This will make the Tahini very creamy and in turm make the humus smooth and creamy as well.

Add the olive oil and minced garlic and cumin and little more lemon juice to tasete process for another minute or so.

Drain the Garbanzo Beans and rinse off in cold water, add to the food processor. blend for a minute or two add more olive oil and or lemon juice to make it smoother. Two minutes later you should be done with the finished product.

Serve with smoked paprika if you like and salted crackers of your choice. I like Pita Chips from Trader Joes. Now with that said Bon Appetite.

Hi Endre, I had never thought to make my own hummus.  Sounds interesting - though I'm pretty sure I don't have everything needed.  I can't go out in my yard and pick a lemon either.  But, I do like the idea of making it in our own kitchen.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Endre:

I am a big hummus fan but have never made it...I will now. I would add some red peppers or perhaps some garlic. And sun dried tomatoes would make an interesting variation! Thank you!

Jeff

Kristal Wilson  how funny I looked at two different stores  to order on line and ended up going to one of our nearby stores instead.... too many restrictions... too many "maybes" and I agree with you the delivery people deserve a great tip... with that said the quest for Toilet Paper continues... Jeff Dowler, CRS  be careful about the garlic, I have cut down to one clove since I have tried with two or more and everyone felt it was great but too powerful and you know what the old saying is... everything before but does not count:)) I like the idea of sun-dried tomatoes with it, Endre

Hey Endre Barath, Jr.

I would not use garlic in the plain hummus - not everyone likes it...but I am a fan! I think 1 clove, 2 at best, would work.

I tried to get garbanzos the other day at Sprouts and they were out, and finding dried beans these days is a challenge.

Endre Barath, Jr. - Cheers with a good bottle of wine to good health. The only way I can enjoy a new recipe for something I haven't tried is to know exactly what I'm eating. Homemade Hummus sounds delicious!

Thank you, for your thoughtfulness.
