Pictured above is one my favorite roses called Angel Face. It has lovely heady scent not too strong, just right as you pass by it. This is the first and it is very pink, instead of light lavender it is supposed to be...we don't mind, I love it just the same. I love that it is one of the many aspects of my amazing world.
The title of my post, "do you get what an amazing world you live in?" is from the book, Save Me the Plums: My Gourmet Memoir by Ruth Reichl. I feel in love with Ruth Reichl when she was writing restaurant reviews in the Los Angeles Times, and I believe I have read almost every book she ever wrote.
That sentence was attributed to her friend, Bill Blass, a clothing designer. He was referring to her life as the editor of Gourmet Magazine, with three chefs talking together in the kitchens of Gourmet .
At the end of that anecdote, I loved her conclusion,
"Now for the first time, I thought that maybe he was the one who hadn't gotten it right. Every world has its extraordinary side. It's just that so few of us know how to find it".
I think that each and everyone of us owe it to ourselves to find our unique personal world. It is what makes life worthwhile and beautiful regardless of the circumstances or conditions we find ourselves in.
Do you get what a amazing world you live in? Happy Sunday!
