Bristow, VA Listing Appointment Options During a Pandemic
There are probably a lot of folks wondering if sellers are still selling and buyers still buying in Bristow, VA in the days of COVID-19 and the ensuing lock downs of businesses. Fortunately for buyers and sellers in Virginia, our Governor has stipulated that real estate is an essential business. That means we can still list and sell property.
So how does a listing appointment work these days? That depends on the comfort level of the sellers. While I have offered to video conference with a couple of sellers to virtually tour their home and go over comparables remotely, sellers so far are preferring to have me come over in person to tour their home and go over comparables.
When meeting in person, I also offer to wear a mask and gloves. The sellers so far have declined. What I have done is arrive with two sets of comparables and paperwork. No hand shakes, but polite greetings from a distance. Before going over the paperwork, I follow the seller through the home, at a good distance of course, to get an idea of what I will be selling. NO TOUCHING ANYTHING. Light switches, door knobs, even hand rails I consider off limits to me.
When the time comes to sit down and go over the paperwork, we choose to sit at opposite ends of the longest table they have, which has been the formal dining room table to this point. We go over comps and listing paperwork page by page, everything arranged the same in their package and mine.
During the listing appointment I had last week, I assumed I would be filling out the listing and emailing it to them for electronic signature. They wanted to do the paperwork then and there. In that case, I walked them through filling it out and signing it, passing it to me. I assumed the risk. No passing paperwork TO them and then BACK to me.
The listing appointment I describe above is what I would require the bare minimum for safety. However, if you are a Bristow home owner and want to list, but would feel more comfortable with a meeting with me in a mask and gloves, consider it done. If you want to meet virtually, I can accommodate that too.
As has always been the practice in my real estate business, I work to accommodate the needs of my clients. If you need to sell during this interesting time in our history, don't hesitate to reach out for the most thorough analysis of your home's value. The surrounding pandemic conditions is not an excuse for a Bristow Listing Agent to shirk any of their duties. We'll find a way to get you the most in depth information in a manner with which you are comfortable.
