Monday Musings On Wisdom: Do You Need More Knowledge or Information?

By

No doubt your in boxes like ours are full of the latest information, advice, and knowledge.  There are days, when what I want to do is just delete everything (other than those directly pertaining to our work). I am experiencing, information overload! Information overload feels like more doingness and less beingness.  And I want to say, stop the world, I want to get off!

As I picked up the book. Stillness Speaks, this morning which both Ron and I read in small bits and paragraphs as the author Eckhart Tolle recommends, I read, "Do you need more knowledge?"

And, here is the rest of that paragraph.

Is more information going to save the world, or  faster computers, more scientific or intellectual analysis?  Is is not wisdom  that humanity needs most at this time?

But what is wisdom and where is it to be found?  Wisdom comes with the ability to be still.  Just look and listen.  No more is needed.  Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you.  Let stillness direct your words and actions.

In this time of what may be interpreted as a global enforced stillness (the world figuratively has stopped), we all would benefit from going with the flow and be still.

PS. I liked this beach sculpture, it reminded of an abstract of a Masai warrior...What is your interpretation.?

Kathy Streib I love your interpretation of the sculpture...and I find that there is a lot of information that is really an opinion and slant on a personal or group perspecctive, which has nothing to with facts, and sometimes it is a gigantic misinterpretation...A

Wow--you've written the right post for the times. Seeking more and more information is an addiction.

I see a moose (mind you, I've only seen one moose ever!) standing at the edge of a forest (not a beach??) being still and listening. Ha!!

As a child, I mastered being still as lessons learned from parents. It is difficult for the workers of the world who are so used to going/doing to remain in place. I understand that completely and we must trust those who are doing their best to get everything ready for the GO button! Still standing is what I see in the photo Ron and Alexandra.

Morning Alexandra.

Information overload, we keep hearing the same thing over and over again.  In my opinion, the media needs to stop it, move on to other things

I totally agree with that sentence, Alexandra!

At first glance of the photo I thought it was a persistent cactus trying to prevail on the top of that post, while having some success doing so!
