Flowers in Full Bloom

I wrote about making a plant dolly for my pots with geraniums last fall/winter.    These plants were doing very well last fall and did not want to see them die, which they do every year.   Every year I go back and buy more, as they sure brighten up a porch!   These pots are SO heavy, there was no way I could move them every day.

This year I took them out on days over 45 degrees and rolled them back into the garage at sunset.    This worked so well, and now they are absolutely gorgeous and nice to have spring flowers, even though we don't have color anywhere else.   Our bulbs are starting to pop up, but no flowers yet.

Even the grape hyacinths have a couple of blooms.

Lottie, here in CO there are still many days with highs above 45, so they were out of the garage quite a bit.  Thanks!

Jeff, in a way that would be nice, but really enjoy all four seasons.

Nina Hollander if we could travel, I would!   It was fun building the dolly, and so helpful to keep my plants alive during the winter months.

Hello Joan - ah, taking the plants for some sun during the day - good for you and good for them.  I hope you are both safely enjoying the Denver area outdoors

They all look great and so full of life!  Is a plant dolly something that would go under the pot to allow you to move it around easily?  I know some of those pots can be very heavy.

Bob, a neighbor in my old neighborhood used to do this, and thought it was a good idea.

Brian England these are pots are VERY heavy, especially after I water the plants.  I bought some plywood and 4 castors and cut the wood to the size I needed.  Works really well!

Hi Joan Cox - I am sure you are so happy to see some color back on the porch. I have a spider plant that would not make it through the winter so I put it on a furniture dolly and Rick and I move it outside to water it and then bring it in for the winter. We do have to watch for bugs!  It is time to leave it outside.  I am uncovering all my plants.  I am sure we won't see any more hard freezes.  Take care and enjoy your geraniums!

I have a red wagon in the garage - I should get it out - that will make a nice arrangement maybe with white geraniums

Lise Howe had I had a wagon, would not have had to build this dolly.   It does work, and beautiful flowers before the flowers are coming up in our gardens.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® that sounds like too.   We have 19 degrees this morning, so we probably are not done with hard freezes.   More snow later this week.
