Do not let FEAR win

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Godzyk Real Estate Services NH License 033394

I do not know the percentages, but lets talk about being safe versus being scared to death. I have been speaking to many would be sellers. Some who were on the market and pulled their listings. Some who had planned to list this spring who are now waiting. Then those who need to sell but are not sure if they should.

Being safe is a must. Taking pre-cautions are a must. For this conversation based here in NH, Real Estate is essential. People are urged to stay at home but it is not a lock down. If home owners want or need to sell. We can do that. There are buyers out there. Actually, a great deal of buyers still looking and waiting for new listings. NH is not hit as hard as some areas and or states where you should stay inside no matter what.

What am I finding? First off a majority of people are scared to death. They will not venture outside. Many do not know "the real facts" regarding this virus. Yes, it is serious. Here in NH most homes have a yard, most big yards with no people around. But some real life examples are people who will not go outside because they think it is in the air. It is not "just in the air". It is actually good for people to go outside in their yards, get some air and sunshine. You can work in your yard. We all know social distancing. What we do not know is that some people take the news literally. One fact is the news is trying to scare you, it is what they do. Sensationalism is the rule of the day for newscasters.

I love getting questions about the market and the virus. It opens conversations. It lets me meet new people. It allows me to show them my expertise. I can offer options, ideas and give facts about our market. Whether it is selling know, or getting plans in place to sell when the virus scare is over. I can do both.

IN SUMMARY,  I leave you with my infamous thoughts, My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. Nice post Scott Godzyk . I find the same thing, people are unnecessarily scared due to the over kill of the news. I never thought I'd see the people of Minot ND walking around with face masks on out of fear of this virus but at this point I'm seeing about 25% of the people doing so.

NOT ONLY is it OK to be outside, the fresh air and sunlight will help your natural defenses. And there's always been a saying in broadcasting: if it bleeds, it leads! People need to understand that the sensationalism is for profit! The more freaked out people, the more eyeballs, the more ratings, the more ad dollars.

Hi Scott... to some degree I blame the 24/7 media coverage of this and it clearly has misinformation. No wonder people are scared... they don't know what or whom to believe any more.

I agree - I think the media people are deliberately trying to instill fear. Some in the health field are doing the same. They hurt their credibiity yesterday when it came out that they report every death as FROM COVID if the person had contracted the disease - never mind if they already dying of heart disease, cancer, kidney failure, etc.

Now we will never know the truth.

Meanwhile - why on earth did Washington and California ban sport fishing? What could be healthier (and more socially distant)  than being outdoors, alone, on a boat?

Our little town of 8700 now has 13 confirmed cases. People are out and about but people are a little freaked out. The daily body count news doesn't help one bit. Glad you are healthy and safe. This virus is not airborne, it hitches a ride on human to human transfers.

Scott there are so many ways to keep folks safe by using a few simple products and processes if needed. Bring clorox wipes to a showing, use gloves and masks - again if needed. Social distance (6 ft)......hey it's only until this mess has been zapped. We can do this.  And .....stay away from fear monkers.

Get outside, walk around, be in nature, enjoy the sunshine. It's good for you!

It is amazing how much fear people have. I live in a small complex of townhomes. We are holding Saturday evening a cocktail time to see each other at a distance, say hi and to let each other know we are here, and this too shall pass.

I'm not so much afraid of this thing, as I see it as an inconvenience.  Yet, I'm cautious enough to stay home, and in the future when I go into a grocery store, I will be wearing a mask.  One third of Sacramento County cases have originated in churches that have refused to shut down.  One church has 71 cases, with one death.  I think we can try to sort out what was accurate information and disinformation once this thing is over.  I'm listening to the scientists, not the politicians.

Scott like you I believe Panic, Paralysis and Fear are not the answer I said this before and I say it again we will look back at this and hopefully we do not have to say that the cure was worse than the disease..Endre
