On our time at home, have you used it wisely? What have you been doing?
I Just Earned the NAR Designation "SRES" Senior Real Estate Specialist
I just completed the SRES designation course -with the number of baby boomers "coming of age"- I thought it may be a wise decision for this Gen X'er to make myself more familiar with what lies ahead. This course was a wealth of information and really touched upon things we don't necessarily cover in regular brokerage. While the course was online; it was a 12 hour course which took about 3 days to complete(especially with our current "stay at home" order). The "class" throws a lot of information at you but t made me think about some of my previous or current clients. The added benefit of being a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® means I can help give back to the community and help senior residents relocating into the area or finding a new location to fit their personalized needs. As we all age; it givse me peace of mind as my parents and inlaws age into their twilight years.
This course covers 12 important chapters with invaluable resourses to use from the NAR website.
1. Generations
2. The 50+ Market
3. 21st Century Retirement
4. Aging in Place
5. Independent Living
6. Housing Options for Assistance
7. Financing Options
8. Tax Matters
9. Legal Matters
10. Marketing and Outreach
11. Working with Buyers and Sellers
12. Building a Team and Resource Bank
If you want to engage with more seniors and encourage their involvement in a community activity, one of the essential steps is to identify local needs and seek out seniors to help fill those needs. It’s an approach that offers triple benefits:
• You can help your community as an individual and a business person.
• You can make connections with seniors who need or want more social, community, or charitable involvement.
• You can position yourself as a senior-centric person who knows and serves the older members of your market and the area at large.
In conclusion- If you are a Realtor, I hope at the end of these 30 days you have that Mandatory Update completed, your continuing education hours that must be complete by June 10th and hopefully an extra designation or two since we actually have the time....Stay Safe & Sanitize and if You have any questions or Seniors you would like to place in Good Hands in the North Carolina or South Carolina Areas; Let me know- Let's Talk
