Good orning Grant. Staying productive in retirement has whole new meaning. Not watching the grandchild daily has my "to do" list completed. My "don't do" list is completed too since I have used the time wisely. Enjoy your day!

You make great points and this is a great time for people to be assessed or self assess to formulate a better game plan for themselves going forward.

Hi Grant Schneider
I love the reverse approach... concentrate on what you'll stop doing. Get rid of obstacles. I remember once when I was trying to lose some weight, one of my big obstacles was the daily donuts in the coffee room of my office. I got someone to agree to get me my morning coffee so I wouldn't see the donuts and, therefore, not tempted. It worked!

This is a great time to make those changes in your business plan that you never had time for in life. I am hoping to change and wanting to get out of what I deemed my comfort zone....
Happy Monday morning Grant Schneider

I always enjoy and benefit from your posts, Grant; this one is no exception.
I've long had a "do--dump--delegate" category in my quarterly business plans; it might be time to expand that thinking to include poor habits.
Grant Schneider

Grant it is so easy to pick up bad habits, and SO DIFFICULT to get rid of them, but if we want to be productive we need to get rid of what is not productive in our business.

Hi Grant- I too love this approach. And if you think about it, when you begin to eliminate what's not working for you, it opens the door for you for possibilities that will.
And Carol Williams when we buy Dunkin coffee beans, I send Larry so the donuts won't tempt me.

Carol - you are right. Many things can be eliminated.
Roy - thanks for visiting.
Ron and Alexandra A - this is something that happens in habits as well as other area. We just keep adding.
Michael - there is no time like the present.
Will - you are welcome. Have a great week.
Paul - if you haven't done it before now is the time.
Lottie - thanks for that example. I love the do-dump-delegate!
George - for sure. That is the truth.
Kathy - we have many possibilities before us.
James - you are right. It is getting old.
Wayne and Jean - thank you we are all fine and looking forward to the next steps.
This is a good one! I have been going out into the Great Room between 5:30 and 6:00 am to meditate and then make coffee. I find starting the day with a relaxed and positive mindset makes things fall into place quite nicely.

Grant, I have just looked over my desk, and cannot think of anything I am doing right now that is not productive. I WAS sending out postcards to potential sellers, but did stop that right after COVID appeared.

Debb and Bernie - I always find having coffee in the morning along with streaming sun is a great start of the day.
Joan - yes. Today is a start of another busy day for me.
Hi Grant Schneider - As always, you have a lot of great information to share with us. It gives us a chance to reflect...
I have two new activities that I never had before. ZOOM calls - two to three a week! This is throwing me off a little. I have made a commitment to get rid of one thing a day and so far so good! I am making more calls to prospects and clients than ever before, another good thing.
My bad habit is not having to be dressed and ready to go anywhere!

Grant I have been busy and productive and am grateful for it, now my advice is if the phone rings answer it, if you get a text respond to it and if you get an email do the same... simple but does generate business...Endre

Good morning, Grant Schneider there is NO EXCUSE for not having a plan ready when this virus is eliminated..... and that means marketing now, too, in order to stay visible....

Sheri - there are certainly things that I think I can do without now.
Endre - Answering the phone is a must now.
Kathy - Thanks very much for inclusion in your Sunday "What I Leaned"
Barbara - as always we need to follow your lead.
Joe - that's right. Excused satisfy only the person who makes them.
I certainly need to get my focus back. I am getting closure. Your post will get me even more focused on the productive. Thank you.

Raymond - perfect time to do this so that you will once again hit the ground running.
Leanne - thank you so much. So glad you are part of this forum.
Kat - it is so easy to get into a rut. You really did a big and successful change in your routine and I admire what you have done.
Thomas - this Spring cleaning is especially different.
Good evening Grant Schneider ,
All excellent advice! Evaluating what is working and what is not is a game changer! Only if you eliminate those activities!

I have been busy finishing to-do items that I got around to doing.
It seems that every one I do, is mentally making me feel better.
Grant Schneider
Armonk, NY
Dorie - this is a time to really re think the value of activities.
Jeff - that is right. Redo the action plan too.
Faye - when those to do's are finished that is really fulfilling.
Excellent advice Grant!!
Retired now so I'm pretty much just doing what I feel like doing, when I feel like doing it. I thought I would be using this time to do things around the house, start new hobbies and such. No. just hanging out. LOL

I've been reading a book called "Atomic Habits." It's filled with ways to remove the temptation from habits you wish to eliminate, plus ways to make it easy to create new ones.
Good book.

Sharon - that is pretty much what we can do now.
Melinda - I really need to do some of that as well.
Jan - no time like now to eliminate those things.
Marte - thanks for the recomendation
There is a lot of food for thought in this post and I enjoyed reading both your content and those of the commenters. Thank you for your insight...
Happy Sunday morning Grant Schneider
Grant, this time at home did give things to do, even if they weren't much fun. The baseboards, trim and doors are all freshly painted, and have a little bridge in my backyard that I stained.
Great post, Grant. This reminds me of a presentation I heard many years ago where the speak said it was just as important to have a "don't do" list as to have a "to do" list. I never forgot that.
