With all the turmoil in our country which is creating hourly changes from lenders to appraisers, the lyrics to a Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel truly reflect what we do as Realtors.
Many of us have transactions in escrow and our clients are definitely feeling “weary, feeling small.” However we are on their sides “oh, when times get rough.”
Then there are those clients looking to buy homes or have already made an offer. All of them are quite anxious as to how the real estate transaction will proceed.
Right now some of the vendors such as appraisers to inspectors are “friends can’t be found,” and our clients to turn us “Like a bridge over troubled water.”
Of course, here in real estate, there is more than one bridge. We have the bridge between the lender and the buyer. Then there is the bridge between the buyer and all the inspections. Of course, another bridge is between the buyer and the listing agent who represents the seller. Finally, the last bridge is between the buyer and the Title company.
Each of these bridges require us to lay down, to let go of our egos, our frustration, and our emotions. We are who our clients turn to when times get rough. They may have “tears” in their eyes. And we “dry them all.”
Now is the time for Realtors to shine, to be full of compassion, to embrace the Code of Ethics, to be that "Bridge Over Trouble Water."
