A Peaceful and Wonderful Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there.

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker

One thing is for sure, and it is to be celebrated this Sunday. I have met a lot of nice people on activerain, the World, my State, and everywhere else. The one thing I think is important and vital is for all of us to take a step back and remember Fathers Day. No matter where you are in life, or how old you are, it only takes a moment  to close our eyes and reflect on our father, our father fiqure.

Perhaps your dad is a softy, or a man that has a bark worst  than his bite, or he is just the king in your life that can never be dethroned; he is your Dad.

For those of us that have had parents go to rest we always have the reassurance of knowing that someday we have to say good bye to old friends so one day we can say hello again.

What a wonderful day that will be. I do wish everyone a wonderful, safe, and enjoyable Fathers Day.

Tom...Thanks for your entry!!  I have had kind of a rough time trying to figure out what to do for my Dad this Father's Day.  Turns out, my sister and I are taking him gocart racing and actually I think he will enjoy this.  When you look around, or maybe you and some of the others who will read this are also parents, it is very difficult to raise children nowadays.

So.....why not honor your Dad?? Hello.

My Dad was not always home, but was available by telephone.  He grew up without a Dad so through the years I've tried to teach him what being a Dad would be like and should look like....not "shoulding" him, but just explaining that certain times are important to be around for your children, or say things like this, etc.  He didn't have anything to go on since he grew up fatherless and spoiled by his Mom, my Grandmother.  Through the years we've become friends.  I think it's only fitting to honor him and do something special for him especially on Father's Day....right??? LOL

My suggestions were not always to his liking.  But either way, his bark has been much more than his bite and deep down I know he's a great person and I'm very grateful he's still around.....now I'm getting emotional.  I have to tell you, Tom, when I first read your entry, I thought, hmmmmmm, what is there to write about Father's Day?  But now that I started, it seems there is alot.

For those of you who don't have your Father's around anymore....my thoughts are with you.

Either way, Happy Father's Day Weekend and a Safe One, too.

Tom - What a beautiful post!  I have been fortunate to have had 2 dad's in my life.  One a birthfather and one an adoptive father - one is still with us and the other visits from time to time in my dreams to tell me things will be okay.  I love them both dearly and appreciate all that they have contributed to make me who I am.  Thanks for this beautiful post!

Dads are a large part of what makes us who we are whether we want to believe that or not.  Not just the color of your eyes...hmmm...Dad's were green, mine brown...your height...he was six feet...I tower at a little over five...he was soft spoken...not an adjective you would use for me.  But maybe just maybe...my work ethic, true sense of fair play....some of the REAL things that make me, me...are from my Dad....and for that...and the daisies... I thank him....
