Your lifelong to-do list...

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greenville Central

So this morning I was about to get ready to walk out the door. As I do every morning I make my to-do list for the day; you know the I couldn't really sleep because it keeps popping into my mind kind of stuff.

Anyway I grab my coffee and as I am pouring, I look down and see my latest copy of Real Simple magazine. (July 2008 issue for those of you that will ask) I love this magazine, but have been really busy lately and haven't read it this month. Not to mention it just came 4 days ago, but normally by now I have at least cracked it open. So I look at the clock and notice that I have a few minutes. After all I am my own boss and I don't have any appointments until later today. I am just going in to do the mundane stuff like paperwork. (And who likes to do that???)

Flipping through and I come to page 35. I really like this section of the magazine. It is the "your words" section. They pose a question and ask readers to answer them. Usually they are simple things and I think of what my answer would be pretty quickly. Well today the article talks about how we make our to-do list all the time and work on ironic, I just did the same thing. But the question was posed, what is your LIFELONG to-do list?

What are the top three things in life you MUST DO before you leave the earth?

They had some really cool answers like meet Jack Nicholson, learn to juggle, get a tattoo, see your kids grow up and the list goes on. Well I sat there a minute and I can't come up with the top three. I have lots of things I want to do, but I am thinking what pressure to pick the top three out of that list. So I ask my husband. He told me he would need the day to think about it and let me know.

Wow one day and you would know...I am sitting here thinking how long it will take here I go. I am thinking about it.

No. 1.....

No. 2....

No. 3....

Blanks to be filled in later, but in the mean time I ask you, what is your top-three things to-do in your life?

Wow Crystal,

You have given me alot to think about this morning.  My top things I think I have already done.  Had kids, have grandchildren, do volunteer work, have  a job I love.

I have one thing that I would really like to do before I die.  I would like to start a foundation/living arrangement for kids who have aged out of the foster care system.  Some of them are 18 before they graduate high school and have to leave their living situation because of age.  Some don't have the skills to make a decent living, and have been abused and are so badly damaged that education has not really been a priority.  They don't believe they deserve a good life.  I want to change that.   Not sure how to start, but I guess that actually putting it out to the universe is a start.

You know I think this is the first time I have actually put this in writing.  Thanks

I like that magazine, too, Crystal.  I don't subsribe, but read it online.  Since I turned 50, I find myself looking back and wishing I had made that list a long time ago.  I do know that each day, on my mental list, I remind myself never to take for granted the relationships with the people I love - you just never know what will happen tomorrow.
