Wordless Wednesday

Fuschia-Pink Flowers to Brighten the Day in Carlsbad

Fuschia-pink flowers in Carlsbad

It's been a gorgeous day here in Carlsbad, perhaps the nicest we've had in a few weeks - high 60s by the beach, almost 80 inland. It was especially welcome after the chilly and rainy weather we had all last week until Sunday evening when the storm finally headed east.

I was on my way to run an errand in Carlsbad Village - in the car only - and had to stop to snap this photo and enjoy the beauty for a minute. These flowers, a plot roughly 15' by 30', positively glowed in the bright sunlight.

Morning Jeff.

My wife would enjoy that photo, as do I.  She'll know what they are, but until now it was just another flower to me.

Hi Endre Barath, Jr.  They are pretty common around here.

As best I can tell online, they are called a creeping shrubby ice plant. But don't quote me on that.

Jeff, what a beautiful photo, and I would have to IMMEDIATELY stop the car to snap a shot too.    We have an all-white landscape with more snow today, and it is FREEZING.

Hi Jeff,  Thanks for sharing this picture of these beautiful flowers.  We still have snow on the ground - it'll be a month or so before we get any flowers.
