The new norm. Everytime I hear this phrase I think of the character Norm on Cheers! See where my mind floats off to? Each time Norm would enter the bar the patrons would all sing out his name, NORM!
Seems like each time we get to a new point in the current Corona-19 crisis, we all speculate that this could be the new norm. You know, I think I liked the old norm just fine, so please bring it back. Please!
Who would have thought the we as a nation would even think that the new norm for greeting people would be a standoffish nod of your head as you proactively move over so as to be at least 6 feet apart as you pass? Wearing surgical masks everywhere you go? Hoarding toilet paper?
I refuse to believe that hugs and handshakes are gone forever. I want us to get back to feeling protected even with 11 friends over for dinner. I want it to be like it was. I want the old norm.
