Good morning Grant. Culture is built form the top down. Attitude plays a huge part. Gratitude has a different meaning for different people. Different strokes for different folks. Choose wisely! Enjoy your day!

Excellent post. I left my last brokerage because I did not like their culture. Where I am now is perfect for me. Guess that is why there are so many brokerages around. To each, their own.

BarbarA - absolutely right and some who are going for size above all are missing those points.
Wayne - looking for the culture fit is also a two way street.
Peter - exactly. That is certainly true.
Hi Grant... it really is all about culture in an organization. I learned that having worked in several Fortune 500 companies which had very distinct cultures. I discovered the same in real estate brokerage. I've stayed with brokerages because of the culture and I left because of the culture... the wrong culture really can mess with one's head and then one's performance.

Nina - when you come into a culture that doesn't match you really feel like "I have to get out of here."
Hello Grant - it's not necessarily about right or wrong(except in extreme cases) but finding what works best for you. That proper fit.

Hi Grant Schneider - Wise words. In my years in the corporate world, we often talked about corporate culture. Not so much in real estate. But it is there. The attitude and the belief of the individual must mirror the walk and talk coming from those above. It is why I left my former brokerage. The corporate culture of Coldwell Banker Realty falls in line with my local office and my values and beliefs.

Culture is oftentimes more important than money, but I also see that a good culture leads to making more money! I love the culture at my brokerage, we are family!

Sheri - It is certainly there although some small groups think they can ignore it.
Brian - yes, that is right. It is exactly the outcome.
Thank you very much, Grant, for sharing your experience and your advice.

Grant,
I have seen large brokerages substantially shrink because of their culture. That is true of all those who treat the agents poorly, because they believe that their brand matters more and the agent is secondary to their brand..A

Grant it is not always about the money. I have turned down jobs because it was not the atmosphere I wanted to be in. Better to make less and be happy, than to make more and hate what you are doing.

Grant, I so agree, culture means everything. I left the brand I had been with for my entire career end of 2018, all because the culture changed, and I could not live with it.

Morning Grant.
Culture (for me), was a big deal when I started. It still is today, thing is, I like the culture of where I am.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - thank you so much. Phyllis and I are in love. Hope to hold him soon.
Roy - thank you very much.
Ron and Alexandra A - yes, that is exactly correct.
George - that is the same story with me.
Joan - yes, perfect validation.'
James - that is really good news.
Well done- Grant- I've always maintained that everything starts at the tops and filters down. I love to look at the list each year of the top companies to work for. And when I see who's on the list, I note that those are the companies that I enjoy doing business with. My favorite store, Wegmans (I wish they were in Houston) is ranked #3!

Hi Grant:
This brings back memories of a small start-up online marketing company in Boston where I was the 6th employee. As the VP of HR a big part of my role was creating the culture, with the help of other employees and the founders. It turned out to be lots of fun. We had lots of people who wanted to work there because of the culture we had, and the reputation the company had in the marketing/advertising business in the Boston area.

I think attitude has three categories, positive, cautionary and pessimistic and successful people might have or had experienced all of them and perhaps more often than not. So, it depends, doesn't it, on the circumstances, yet, leadership IMO is all about taking action that is prudent, efficient and effective? Excellent post.

Kathy - Wegman's is great. They are a Rochester NY based store so I know them and they are opening a store here in Westchester.
Jeff - that is really exciting. I work with one of those in 2004.
Kimo - good point. Sort of like a traffic light.
There IS a strong connection between attitude and performance! Inspiring words

Mary - in fact most terminations occur because of attitude.

Culture dictates a lot of stuff in life and we see that real estate is no exception.
Gratitude is the best attitude In especially that case! Grant Schneider Love and light and all the best to you, Grant
Good morning, Grant Schneider culture is an important factor of an office and/or team.... if the culture is not one that blends well with YOUR attitude, it won't work....you may make money but you will not be happy....it will be a short term relationship..... short term is a waste of time....it takes too much marketing and promoting to end it.... that's a waste of money.....
one should understand the culture of the team and/or office before investing in it.... and that can be done.... it takes time but joining an office or a team is not a quick decision....it shouldn't be!!!
