A Beverly Hills Realtor’s Perspective on Surviving Covid-19 Lockdown: Answer the phone, reply to emails, respond to texts. The world, or rather its inhabitants, are faced with many uncertainties and not just real estate; every profession’s way of conducting business has been affected and changed in some way or another by this global lockdown.
I am amazed (and honestly more annoyed) with all the “help” that is bombarding the average Real Estate practitioner. Here is a sampling of actual opportunities that were suggested for this Wednesday, keep in mind this is just a ONE-day sampling.
10 am – 11 am: Staying Fearless in Uncertain Times.
11 am -Noon: Let’s take a closer look at one of the Real Estate Technologies.
Noon to 1 pm: How to do Facebook ads to generate leads.
1 pm - 2pm: Clarifying the California Association of Realtor Forms; and
2pm – 3pm: How to Thrive in Chaos
Add to this, I received two or three emails to confirm that I did not miss or accidentally deleted the invitations, followed by multiple reassurance emails telling me how beneficial this will be for my business. I have deleted daily close to sixty or more emails about these not to be missed opportunities.
The above free webinars are just a sampling (not all inclusive). There are many others every day that suggest and offer advice such as the Multiple Listing Changes, How to Work Remotely, the National Association of Realtors Policy Changes due to Covid-19, the Clear Cooperation Policy, the California Association of Realtors Disclosure about Covid-19, Title Company Representatives, Lending Institutions, Mortgage Brokers, Virtual Tours, and Escrow Officers. This does not include my own Brokerage’s Zoom meetings. I could write a book rather than a post if I addressed all of the webinars that charge a fee to keep you motivated, engaged, and up to date while you are sheltering in place. Add to this people from LinkedIn trying to sell me leads and ‘referrals’; these are not referrals, rather they are 3 to 15-minute time wasters to sell you their product.
Do you see my point? While I am appreciative of my brokerage’s (and others) motivational and informative offerings, these are all “time sucks”. In my opinion, if you have no business or listings, blogging, answering your phone, emails and texts, and getting back to anyone and everyone with whom you ever came in contact will be a much more proactive use of your time. This is the time more than ever that your clients or potential clients have questions about Real Estate and the real estate market that is your niche. Put your experience and knowledge to work for you and your clients, rather than wasting time, money, and energy on all these Zoom Meetings.
Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments.
