The Imminent Reopening of Society and What We Should Do

Next week most places around the country are trying their first phase at reopening society. Our Highlands Ranch property management office will remain closed to the public and largely distributed to working online for at least another 2-3 weeks. It may be inviting to want to rejoin a normal lifestyle, and we certainly can’t stay locked down forever or even for the rest of the year, however the reopening of society must be done carefully and with strict adhesion to guidelines put forth. To just continue life as normal before COVID-19 happened would be foolish, and quite frankly, not possible. We are making sure our office stays apart for the time being, since there is always a risk of exposure. The problem with a re-opening where everyone would like to rush out and resume their daily lives, get haircuts, and order in restaurants is that there will be an implicit feeling the COVID-19 is “cured”, which couldn’t be further from the truth. If people automatically abandon their handwashing regimes or stop using care at the supermarket, it could not end well for most people. We believe that if pockets of society reopen, and people still take care to stay 6 feet away from each other, wear masks in the supermarkets and continue to be vigilant about washing their hands, then we can do this, and we need to do this. Same thing with large offices who have been working online at this time. Half of their staff needs to continue to work from home and shifts need to be staggered. Once large-scale testing is available people can breathe easier and interact more normally in their communities. We also believe that communities that are not as hard hit deserve to open up. Here in Colorado, Denver is of course the part of town with the highest amount of cases due to population. That should not mean Castle Rock needs to stay locked down if they have barely a fraction of cases in the metro area. Same goes for our rural counties, multiple hours away from the city. The thing is, we need to reopen society, but we need to do it carefully. Schools, movie theaters, concert venues should remain closed. Small businesses that can mandate social distancing should be allowed to reopen and implement their own rules their clients must abide by. Let’s check in during the following weeks and see how things go. Cautiousness will be the best path forward as we try to bring our collective lives back together.

Please email our office for any Highlands Ranch property management needs.
