Does your work-life flow? Having a system is always my dream, but in reality, my system is more of a nightmare at times. Last week, I spent a few days running around my office, home, searching through our cars and digging through my desk trying to find a set of keys for one of our rentals. Most of our rentals have electronic locks, so having keys has become a thing of the past around here. This house, has keys.
I spent days trying to remember where I put those keys, and yes, I have a lockbox for keys in
the office, but for whatever reason, those keys did not end up in the lockbox. Finally, I had an idea, did I put the keys in the property's file? Yes I did. It was at that time that I realized, I need to get more organized. I need to organize my keys, my marketing, my files (which are pretty good already), my office and my life.
I call my office the cockpit. When it's organized, it's like flying a plane. I flew when I was younger and one thing I know from that experience is that if you want to return to the ground in one piece, you have to be organized, pay attention and follow procedure. At times, my office can become more like "a pit" rather than a cockpit. Too many times, I have piles of paper stacked up, files everywhere, inspections, communications, mail and a host of other things sitting round. Some are in the way, others are not, but they all have a place and they all need to be in that place. Today, it was time to get my office back in order. It should flow. For the balance of the quarantine period, I will be working of my work-flow. How about you? Does your work-life flow?
