My Spring Progression of Colors

For those of you who have been following me on Facebook recently, you know I haven’t had the best luck finding compatible physical exercise in absence of my usual swimming. Because Covid-19 has shut down my health club, swimming is not currently an option for me.

Last week, I reported an incident while I was dancing to Indian drumming tunes out on my back patio. The activity almost precipitated a 911 call from my neighbor. Because he couldn’t hear the music coming from my ear buds, but saw me jumping around in sharp pronounced movements, he started to reach for his telephone. I have remedied that particular activity with little peril, by dancing in my garage. . .while making certain the garage door is down!

This Monday, I decided to begin riding my bike more. Views along the American River Parkway this time of year, are always spectacular. And, yesterday, while enjoying the landscape, I spotted 4 deer walking among the grasses! It prompted me to stop and take their photo! However afterward, when I went to step back onto my bike, my right foot somehow got involved in a wrestling match with the bike frame, and it, and I tumbled soundly to the ground. The bike fared better than I did. The bike collected a little dust and a broken basket made of wicker. . .I landed face first!

After finding my way home, a few miles away, I cleaned my face and noticed I had visible damage, but thought a pair of sunglasses would cover it, should I need to go out in public. However, this morning, I learned a significant lesson from this blackeye. They grow much uglier overnight!

It was just reported that Sacramento County has extended the Stay-at-Home order from April 30th to May 22nd. And, for me, with my current state of beauty, that’s not necessarily a bad thing!

The good news is my pantry and refrigerator are full. I have plenty of supplies for a self-incarceration until I heal. There’s nothing left to do, but chill and enjoy life in a more reclined position, while enjoying the Spring Progression of Colors on my face!

Myrl ....... OUCH ...... that looks painful.  Better not let your neighbor see that, because he is not going to buy into your music story after looking at you

Oh Myrl! That's quite a black eye! Accidents like yours happen quickly and unexpectedly; glad otherwise you seem to be fine. Pay attention to that wish to sleep; I've heard that is one symptom of a concussion. Perhaps a phone call to your doctor is in order?

I guess I should at least post the picture of the deer.  I'm wishing I had my good camera with me, instead of my cellphone, to take it.

Lottie Kendall - Yeah, I read the symptoms of concussion.  It also lists ringing in the ears, which I already had, and dizziness.  I don't think I'm confused though.  I suspect I probably have a bit of a concussion.  Oddly, enough, I have had a little dizziness in recent weeks, from a suspected inner ear issue in my right ear.  But, now, that dizziness is gone.  Go figure!

I am so sorry this happened to you. Before our stay at home order took affect I took my two grandsons for a bike ride which usually happens to be me chasing them on their bikes. We were going up a hill and my youngest grandson fell over on his bike right in front of me. As I tried to stop and lend assistance I discovered I couldn't get my foot out of the stirrup on my bike. In slow motion I fell to the ground and bounced my helmet off the street. My grandson stood over me and said "did you mean to do that". "That was cool"....

i've never felt so helpless in the 60 years I have been riding a two wheel bike...

I hope you have a happy Thursday Myrl Jeffcoat

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - I can fully relate to that feeling of helplessness.  I bought my bike several years ago when I turned 70.  I have never worn a helmet.  I had reasoned that I made it all through childhood without one, and if I fell now, I'd be more concerned with breaking a hip.

Hello Myrl - at least you are not flying a plane like Harrison Ford. I mean, you are not considering it, right?  Stay happy.  Keep healthy.  Be "grounded".

Myrl- omg- that is quite a shiner.  If I were you, I'd make up a really fantastic story to go with it!!!  Don't feel too bad...I've run into a palm tree and the sides of a bridge when I was out bike riding. Please be careful, though about your head bump.

Gosh Myrl your two incidents have to do with visual things, from your neighbor not understanding what he was seeing to that color changing shinner.  Glad you are okay, yes good you are prepared foodwise.  Maybe you had a bag of frozen peas to put on your eye early on? Or frozen steak, like I've seen in some movies. Take care.

Oh my goodness, Myrl. I missed this earlier. I hope your eye is healing well. Your eye reminds me of the time when I got hit in the eye with a baseball. I never played catcher again!  Take care!!!

Myrl Jeffcoat - I was so engrossed by your shiner and story that it wasn't until I read Tammy's comment that I forgot all about the lovely title for this post. So, when you fell down, did you see colors and stars? That happened to me when I was 12 and got jumped by a gang. I'm so sorry this had to happen to you. So, I guess you aren't planning on suing the government for the Covid-19 shutdown? You take your punches and you get up and show off your smiling face. You are brave and an adventurous spirit. I hope you heal well and didn't have any head and/or eye issues. Take care! I sure hope the pool opens soon. You would feel so much better swimming and the cool water would help a lot!
