Are Your Ducks in Order Or Are They Still Quacking Around?

There have been many stories about businesses and what they are doing to try to reopen. Recently I read about two owners of similar businesses and it made me think about the age-old saying about ducks and having them in order.

Both owned salons with a medium-sized staff and had been open for manygreen cay black bellied whistling ducks years. They were concerned for their business as well as their employees.

Salon Owner A was waiting for the word that salons could reopen. She was concerned about being able to get supplies once they were allowed to reopen. She was beginning to search and was having a hard time finding what she needed.  Would her old clients return?  How would she get her shop ready when she did open?

Salon Owner B knew what was in her inventory and had been in touch with her vendors as soon as she had to close. She continued to communicate with them just in case certain products were becoming scarce.

In addition, she’d increased her Instagram and Facebook presence to try to stay in touch with her clients.

She has been to her shop at least once a week to make sure that everything was being maintained.

You know where this is going….

Even though we may be in a Stay at Home mandate in our local community doesn’t mean that we can’t have a plan of attack for that time when business is back to usual.

I know that agents have been taking their Continuing Education classes as well as continuing their marketing as well.

Now is the time to design your plan of attack if you haven’t already. Anticipate how and what you will need to operate in the post quarantine business environment. It is even more important to continue your marketing. (see Barbara Todaro  or Ron and Alexandra Seigel  if you’re not sure how to market during this pandemic)

What additional supplies will you need? Are you ready to assure your clients that you’re absolutely ready for business?

What about you?  Your ducks in order?

Thank you Roy Kelley Hope that you and Chef Dolores are doing well.

You are too funny Sharon Lee

And Ron and Alexandra Seigel as you wrote in a post recently, you have to be careful about the message you put out there now in this environment.

Brian England You and your brothers must have been a handful.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 I think that many people are ready to get back to work. And...ready to move on.

Sam Shueh everyone has to be willing to do what's necessary whether it's wearing a mask or staying in and not put a political slant on it.

John Henry, Florida Architect The first week we were all in a bit of a shocked mindset. But the time has passed and we all need to create what will be the normal of the day.

Thank you Norma J. Elkins you have to work as if there is someone right behind you ready to take up where you left off.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty that's wonderful!!!!  You've been more than getting your ducks in order.

Kris Collis, Associate Broker that's the right way to look at it. You have to look ahead and analyze what it will take in the market coming up.

Will Hamm our Governor said that salons can reopen Friday but there are many guidelines.

Grant Schneider I'm sure that you're going over that with the groups you work with.

Michael Jacobs very well said and succinct!!!

George Souto smart move. I've always kept pretty well stocked up but was caught low with alcohol and Clorox wipes. Thankfully I bought a lot of flour when this started so Larry could continue making bread.

Hi Kathy Streib - I have never stopped working.  Staying in touch with clients, looking for investment properties, and yes, even showing properties and my own listings. I even got a new client that I am writing a contract for right now.

I do wish the very best for all our restaurants.

Hi Kathy:

There's lots of wise advice in your post. It's a good time to be proactive, not reactive!

Things are opening up here, now - parks and the beaches now, and some retail starting on Friday.

Jeff

Hello, Kathy Streib. There is a great marketing lesson in your post. You're right even though we're practicing social distancing and staying at home, it's important to continue our businesses at some level at least.

You can trust me for all your real estate needs!

Thanks for the info. Yes we are definitely in a 'shifting' market and we may not see the end of it for a long time. It's best to stay positive, in front of your clients and continue to market, but in these different avenues and attitudes.

No ducks to even put in order here. LOL

One of my closest life long friends is a Realtor and she is extremely busy right now. She said she is working 10-12 hour days.

My son-in-law is in the car business. (Finance manager) He is so busy it's crazy.

I'm just happy to be retired.
