You know, marvel at your years of membership
in Active Rain; 😉 how long you've been a member.
Active Rain began accepting members May 2006!
The days are long, the years are short...I marvel at over 11 years here.
Do you celebrate your anniversary or how long it is that you have began your Active Rain Membership? Do you celebrate your relationships here? The wisdom shared?
How long have you been a member? When did you join?
Why did you sign up?
Why do you come back: Daily? Weekly? Inconsistently?
I'm a history buff, so consequently I geek out over dates, anniversaries, time-lines and time-lines in parallel i.e. what I was doing 9/25/75 vs. my bride. Rear Window is one of my favorite movies and I suppose I am appropriately named Tom for my peeping-Tom curiosity of people and their different lifestyles. I love people watching in airports, stores, beaches, etc. I’m living in a human zoo. As different as they are, they have family and friends that love them and attract into their lives and vice versa.
Do you recall your what your Active Rain anniversary date is?
Do you care?
If you do, here’s where you confirm it: Active Rain Roster
Provided to me by Candice A. Donofrio July 2018 😉
I was invited on Sunday, August 3, 2008 by (one time #1 in CA) and former Active- Rain blogger Russel Ray, (currently #5 in CA AR blogger) Jim Frimmer's partner. Russel was my home inspector for over 12 years until he retired.
But I did not take the plunge and join until October 19, 2008 because back then, I never understood the point or allure to write or read a non-published author’s words. I had no idea what blogging was and why I would waste time doing it...😂
I joined in good company. Here’s a couple familiar faces that are my (month of) October 2008 “classmates”:
Hello Miss Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR and Miss Annette Lawrence (oops out of links)
I did not have the nerve share my first post until March 2009, 5 months later. I have an ego, but not one big enough back then that assumed anyone wanted to read what I wrote. My first post was forgettable.
Then I met Jeff Dowler, CRS and he was kind enough to meet me for lunch and he opened my eyes to a world I was too ignorant back then to see. Boom! It all made sense. Sharing wisdom, exchanging ideas, building relationships, earning referrals and much, much more. (Jeff coincidentally or not- is my most booked marked blogger in Active Rain). Tammy Emineth is my #2 and several of you usual suspects make my bookmarked blog list too. 😁
Here’s a look at my (day of) October 19, 2008 “classmates”:
I am admittedly vocal/critical of AR when the tech or SEO is wacky, but the truth is I enjoy the community here and the platform, it is truly unique to all others. I’ve made great relationships here, local friendships and learned a lot.
I’ve shared laughs, debates, helped many, been helped by many too; made some folks happy along the way and pissed a few off with my sarcasm. I've been right, righteous and wrong in the Rain too. 😇
It’s all part of the cornucopia that is the Active Rain Experience; which ultimately is what you make of it. Let it Rain.
Please share the answers to any of my questions in your comments, and at the very least, share your anniversary date with us!
