Fence  vs. Tree?

Chain link fences are wonderful because they don't have to be painted, don't rot, don't have termites and seem to last forever.  But this one seems to have found a formidable foe.  I found this site at a listing today and thought it very interesting because of the time it has had to take to get to this stage.

The tree was probably pretty big when the fence was put in because no one would plan a problem like this.  So the tree kept growing, the fence stayed solid.......until......this situation.  It's a tough battle but I think I am betting on the tree's winning.  If I live that long!

Hello Barbara - while boundaries are often defined by fences, there have been some rule-breakers make entry from time to time.

Morning Barbara.

I won't bet against you on this one.  The fence has already lost.

The condition of that fence reminds me of several years ago when I had a cyclone fence on one side of my house.  I had a baby Palm tree, that ended up growing quite large, and did that to the fence before I replaced it.

James, the fence would still hold in a pet pup.

Myrl, it seems that some trees just grow faster.  My husband planted some fast-growing trees 30 years or so ago when we built.  We took them out before many years because they WERE growing so fast.

I noticed the fence has actually had a couple of Zip Tie repairs done. But it is definitely putting up a good fight to the bitter end.

Gwen, I did not notice that.  You are very observant!
