There is so much to get done when moving.
Here's a partial list of things to know or do to occupy that new home.
Get to know your lender really well and stay in touch until you get a "clear to close."
Lock in your rate.
Obtain home insurance.
Choose a title company and get wiring instructions.
Title insurance and survey.
Know time and place for settlement.
Hire a home inspector, schedule time, and attend.
Schedule other inspections... well, septic, radon, termite, roof, etc.
Review the reports and ask for necessary repairs.
Order and pay for the appraisal.
Review, in the allotted time, Condo, or Home Owner Association documents.
Get estimates from moving company and schedule.
Get your packing boxes and bubble wrap.
Arrange for a locksmith to change or tumble locks.
Schedule move with the condominium board and reserve an elevator.
Get a list from the seller, trash days, and current yard, snow, or pool contractors.
Schedule a walkthrough within five days of closing. An empty property is ideal.
Say goodbye to your neighbors
Note any damage or unfinished repairs.
Change utilities to your name before closing.
Get all keys, fobs, garage openers, and security codes.
Obtain manuals on all appliances and systems.
Check on a home warranty.
Change of address notification.
Driver's license.
Review closing documents.
Wire the funds to the title company.
Go to settlement and write a testimonial for your Realtor®
