The Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz is doing some amazing work during our Stay At Home Order to still connect us with the arts through our computer screens. If you are feeling distant from your creative juices here are a few things to help you get back in the groove!

For those who do not know what the Tannery Arts Center is, it is a great working space through the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County for artists of all kinds. There are 100 live/work residents on their campus that include a theater, cafe, gallery, dance studio and so much more. During normal hours the Tannery is open to the public and members for things such as classes and events or just to get a good cup of coffee!

During this time the Tannery Art Center has put together a number of activities for the public and its members to still participate in from home, Here are a few that may catch your interest!

Tannery World Dance & Culture Center: Virtual Theatre

May 9th @8pm you can live stream this event on Facebook & Instagram, TWDCC virtual theater crosses the threshold between the physical and digital, presenting a platform for artists and audiences to come together from across distances big and small thanks to enhanced technology. Micha Scott created Collective Experience/Collected Responses with an understanding that although we are all in different parts of the world, have different preexisting circumstances (financial, race, gender, age, health) and process with different mind and spirits, there is a pervading sense that we are feeling, moving and experiencing collectively.

Virtual First Friday

Each Friday in May, five local artists will take over the First Friday Instagram page from 12-10 pm to show their process, latest work, and answer your questions.

Artists/Venues can participate by posting videos/photos of their latest work, creative process, studios, inspirations, etc. to their own social media channels by tagging @firstfridaysantacruz and using the hashtag #virtualfirstfridaysc

Hi Pete,  Thanks for sharing.  So good to see they are finding a way to keep people connected to the arts even when we can't actually be there.
