Face it - Bethesda is getting to be a big little city.  The intersection of Bethesda and Woodmont Avenues has been transformed in the last few years from a quiet little area with a surface parking lot or two and a Barnes and Noble into a community with luxury high rise condos, a park, trendy stores and upscale restaurants.  Bethesda has gone high end! It is a great place to shop and dine, but for many people it is overwhelming as a place to live. Some residents long for the “good old days” when Bethesda was a little quieter.

For those people who enjoy a little peace and quiet, I will share my best kept secret.  The place to live in Bethesda is the Whitehall Condominiums!   

The Whitehall, composed of two high rise buildings, is just on the edge of downtown Bethesda, just a few blocks from the NIH Metro and an easy walk to Walter Reed.

You have amazing views of downtown Bethesda from your balcony or spectacular views of the green space of the NIH campus behind the Whitehall buildings. Condos at the Whitehall are Spacious and Very Well Priced

There are nearly 300 units in the two buildings of the Whitehall, offering a variety of units in the Whitehall Condominiums for you to choose from -  one and two bedrooms and even small townhouses situated around the pool.  The addresses for the two buildings are 4977 Battery Lane and 8315 Brook Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.  

One bedroom condos are approximately 827 square feet (not counting the balcony) while the two bedroom one bath units are approximately 1100 square feet and the two bedroom two bath condos are a little more than 1200 square feet. The townhouses are a particular treat with over 1500 square feet of space on two levels and 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  The condos at the offer an amazing amount of space for the price, making them one of the best values in Bethesda.

 

The Whitehall Condos are a Great Place to Live

 

The Whitehall Condos are composed of two high rise buildings and 13 townhouses. The front desk is located at 4977 Battery Lane, the larger building with approximately 260 units.  The condos at 8315 Brook are the larger units, although the building itself has fewer units.   The Whitehall buildings were built in 1963,  but did not become condominiums until late 1982.

 There is a very nice gym, party room and lots of greenery at the Whitehall, all within a short walk to the Metro and the Woodmont Triangle part of Bethesda.

 

The original floor plans are very traditional with enclosed kitchens and smaller bathrooms, but the living space and bedrooms are very spacious.  827 square feet for a one bedroom and 1200 square feet for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo for the prices at the Whitehall is incredible value in Bethesda.

The condo fees are on the high side however, which probably serves to keep the condo prices lower, but the fee does include gas, electric, water, sewer, common area maintenance, the front desk, the exercise room, pool and the master insurance policy.  The condo fees range from $715 for an 800 sq foot one bedroom condo to $850 for a large one bedroom and  $950 for a two bedroom one bath and over $1000 for the largest two bedroom two bath condo.  

The Whitehall even welcomes pets, including dogs less than 30 pounds! While you can have a dog at the Whitehall, you cannot have a washing machine or dryer, but there are laundry rooms on each floor for the residents. The buildings are very friendly places to live!

Living in Downtown Bethesda 

Living in downtown Bethesda means living in a lively urban community filled with nearly 200 restaurants, 75 home fashion retailers, unique boutiques, day spas and salons, three live theaters, art galleries and much more! While there are lots of apartments and condominiums in Bethesda that offer convenient and luxurious living, the Whitehall is outstanding because of the value that it offers and the availability of very reasonably priced townhomes which are very rare in downtown Bethesda.  You can find condos to purchase at the Whitehall (if there are any available today) as well as all the condos for sale in downtown Bethesda on my website.

 

Where Do Whitehall Families Send Their Children to School?

As more and more families choose to remain in downtown Bethesda, there are lots of children waiting for the school bus at each condo building!  The Whitehall is in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School cluster, so children at the Whitehall attend Bethesda Elementary, Westland Middle School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.
