Was That Call Really Ended?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with HomeRome Realty 410-530-2400 311291

oops did you hang up

It is a good idea when a phone call ends that you be the last to hang up.

Amazing what you can learn when the other person "thinks" they ended the call!

We all have some of those stories.

There have been conversations that were quite beneficial when in the middle of negotiating.

There have been comments made "under the breath."

Once out, those words cannot be retrieved.

What have you heard when they continued speaking?

Would you care to share?

What have you said when you thought no one was listening? While some may be funny, others embarrassing and even others could be harmful?

Always hang up before having another discussion.

And if you are thinking of selling your home

Oh Yes it is good to check if the phone was shut down before we start spewing of what we really thought... and most of the time it is words that well let's just say if you are a Catholic you would need to confess and get absolution:))Endre

Morning Margaret.

My wife has an issue about just that. She rarely hangs up the phone.  I keep telling her, and she keeps up not doing it.

Hello Margaret - I have heard "secrets" revealed when on a telephone call when the other party thought the call was over.  Sometimes it might even be harmless intonation of a voice - crossed wires are needlessly crossed.  Be safe - not sorry.

I haven't had that issue.  However, I have sent a couple emails to the wrong folks, that I wish I could have retrieved and had them simply strangle me to death!

Margaret- I'm laughing because we spoke to Larry's daughter and her family the other day via Facetime and we had a hard time hanging up ...as in I can still hear you!!!

It’s the “under the breath” ones I live for.And a good response? ..... So what’s your point? If nothing else, it can break the tension and diffuse the situation.

Sounds like you recently heard something interesting...

This could make a good case for using an old-fashioned phone that goes back on the receiver when the call is finished. We do have one of those in the house - it's the only one that works when the power goes out.

I'm always so careful to make sure a call has really ended before hanging up. And, with cell phones, it can be tough to know for sure at times. When it doubt, assume someone is still on the line.

Hi Margaret:

Yep I have had a couple of oops moments when I was not being careful although it's been a while, thankfully. You defintely have to pay attention. I also sometimes forget to close out the phone app, then into my pocket the phone goes and you get one of those goof calls!

You do bring up a good point, Margaret.  I'm usually the quick one to end a call so not likely it's going to happen to me.  LOL
