Jeff has written a fabulous recap of Tuesday's Zoom MeetUp with a couple of dozen AR bloggers. Fun, sharing, learning, connecting, seeing, and hearing each member. Enjoying this contest, and I hope it continues longer than just the month of May.
May ActiveRain Challenge
Zooming to Network, Learn and Have Fun
Jeffrey Richman is hosting a challenge for May to encourage Rainers to get involved in the learning each week at Zoom meetings on Tuesdays at 2 PM EST (you can figure out the other time zones, right?).
Not only do you get to see and chat with your AR friends on the Zoom calls, and meet some new friends, but there is a speaker each week. Just think of all the benefits!
See your friends and chat
Meet new friends
Become more familiar with Zoom and how it works
Practice good Zoom etiquette (don't forget everyone can see you!)
Learn from great speakers
Jeffrey’s challenge provides an opportunity to participate and share what you have learned, and who you saw (you have to tag 5 people), for 3 of the 4 Zoom calls. You’ll have fun meeting face-to-face with people you know or perhaps don’t, of course, and you get 1500 bonus points for writing at least 3 posts.
I missed most of the first meeting on May 5th, as a problem I had to attend to came up a few minutes after I logged on, but the Zoom call on May 12th was terrific. Seems to me there were at least 25 in attendance - I feel badly I did not keep a list, but see Kathy Streib’s post for the list of the gang.
There were a number of people I know and have met in person, including George Souto , Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 , Brian England , Jan Green and Grant Schneider plus our host, Debe Maxwell, CRS , and AJ Heidmann ~ CRS For those who attended that I haven’t met IRL at least I can now say we’ve met in person via Zoom, and in some cases have talked on the phone. Unfortunately, time is short and you can’t have conversations with everyone like you might at a meet-up, but what an opportunity with people from around the country!!
Our speaker was Marte Cliff , who as everyone on AR knows is our resident copywriting, proofreading, grammar, and spelling expert.
And in case you aren’t also aware (while I think I knew this it was nice to have it confirmed) she writes bios for those in the real estate business who need help…and who doesn’t...crafting a bio that doesn’t ooze “I am sooo special” from start to finish.
Plus Marte also creates dozens of prospecting and lead generating letters, and more! Just learning more about the services she provides to agents in our business was an awesome benefit to ourthe Zoom meeting, but there's more. Check out Marte’s website.
Marte talked a lot about the importance of our bios. And while I suspect we all have a sense our About Me or Profile page is pretty darn important (along with a photo that isn’t from high school days), many of us can probably benefit from improving our bios to make them more friendly, conversational, and focused on who we work for and where, and what our niche or specialties are.
As we all aware, but perhaps sometimes forget, it’s all about keeping in mind our audience and the important things we want them to know.
It’s essential to keep in mind what readers want and are interested in, not what WE want. Telling everyone about being the neighborhood expert and how wonderful we are will likely be a massive turnoff, with readers tuning out and moving on to better places.
So, c'mon, take the plunge and join us, whether you have used Zoom or not.
The next Zoom meeting is Tuesday May 19th at 2 PM EST.
I hear we have a special guest – Kathy Streib. Even if you don’t participate in the challenge the networking and learning will be fun. It's an hour very well spent!
